1,3-Propanediol is a 100% natural multifunctional cosmetic ingredient produced by biotechnological fermentation of vegetable glycerin with the help of non-pathogenic microorganisms. This process is carried out without the use of GMO raw materials, synthetic solvents and preservatives, making the raw material completely bio-based and environmentally friendly.

The product is a clear, colorless, odorless liquid, derived from renewable plant sources (palm and palm kernel oil from Southeast Asia). Physical properties

1,3-Propanediol is a clear liquid with low viscosity and neutral pH. It is produced by fermentation of glycerin followed by distillation and purification. It is very low in heavy metals (< 10 mg/kg as Pb) and contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Use in formulation

Recommended dosage: 1-10 % according to the desired function in the formulation.
1,3-Propanediol is miscible with water and most common surfactants, emulsifiers and preservative systems. It is compatible with phenethyl alcohol, with which it has been shown to enhance the antimicrobial effect of preservatives.
It is recommended to be added during cooling (at temperatures below 40 °C)
