Before each new filling, the bottle and the dispenser must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination. For disinfection, we recommend using, for example, isopropyl alcohol or ethanol of a quality suitable for cosmetic use, available in the Handymade range, specifically the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After disinfection, let the packaging dry thoroughly and only then fill it again.

The dispenser should be cleaned by gently rinsing with warm (not boiling) water with a small amount of a suitable cleaning agent, followed by thorough rinsing with clean water. It is recommended to repeatedly pump clean water through the pump mechanism in order to remove product residues from the internal parts. After rinsing, the dispenser should be left to air-dry at room temperature. When disinfecting with alcohol, take care that no residues of alcohol remain inside the system which could affect the subsequent contents.

The aluminium part of the packaging can usually be handed in for collection of metal packaging after being separated from the plastic dispenser, while the plastic dispenser belongs with plastics unless local sorting rules state otherwise. We recommend storing products in the bottle at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. The dispenser should always be properly closed in order to minimise contact with the external environment and reduce the risk of contamination. When storing more sensitive preparations, it is recommended to follow the recommended temperature range specified for the particular product (for example in the instructions or technical data sheet of the given formulation) and not to subject the packaging to excessive mechanical pressure.
