Amber Boston Glass Bottle, Black Smooth Pump, 250 ml

The brown Boston glass bottle with a black pump dispenses body oils, lotions and liquid soaps in equal doses without opening. The ready-to-use set is suitable wherever the contents are used frequently and in smaller amounts – for body and massage oils, facial and body lotions, liquid soaps, light gels or cleansing milks. Brown glass protects the contents from light, the pump measures the same amount with each press, and the bottle does not need to be unscrewed or tilted.

The 250 ml volume is practical for products that sit at the sink, in the shower or on the bedside table and are used up within a few weeks. The Boston shape with its rounded shoulder and cylindrical body fits comfortably in the hand and offers a smooth surface for a label.

What products is the set suitable for

The pump handles liquid to medium-viscosity contents. It is suitable for:

• body, massage and bath oils, dry oils and oil serums in larger quantities,
• body lotions and light emulsions of the O/W type that flow and do not hold their shape,
• liquid soaps, gentle shower gels and shampoos of lower viscosity,
• cleansing milks, micellar waters and makeup-removing oils,
• hair oils and leave-in conditioners in liquid form.

It is less suitable for thick creams, butters and balms that the pump cannot draw up or dispenses unevenly, and for scrubs with particles that may block the pump valve. Very thin water-based preparations, such as toners, are better dispensed with a spray than a pump.

Nominal and total volume

Two volumes are distinguished for packaging. The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed for standard filling – in this case 250 ml. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them provides a reserve for the pump tube and valve, for the expansion of contents with temperature changes and for comfortable closure without overflow. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The exact values of both volumes are listed in the specifications.

What is good to know before filling

Preparation before first use. We recommend washing the bottle with warm water and dish soap, rinsing, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving it to dry completely with the neck down. For the pump, it is sufficient to rinse with warm water, pump several times and leave to dry. Residual water in the tube would cause cloudiness with anhydrous oils.

Glass and heat. Do not fill the bottle with hot emulsions or oils straight from a water bath. Allow them to cool to room temperature. A sudden change in temperature stresses the glass and a thicker content may change viscosity on cooling to the point where the pump can no longer draw it up.

Pump plastic and contents. The pump is made of polypropylene, which resists vegetable oils and common cosmetic ingredients. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend verifying the pump's seal and function with a test batch over several weeks before using it for a full production run. The pump has a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not approved for contact with food. It is therefore intended for cosmetic and technical preparations, not for edible oils, syrups or infusions.

Repeated use. The glass bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection. When changing the contents, especially from an oil to a water-based product, the pump cannot be completely cleaned of residues in the tube and valve. In such cases it is better to replace it.

Labelling. The cylindrical body of the bottle allows a wrap-around label to be applied without creases. Apply the label to dry, degreased glass.

Recycling. The bottle goes in the glass recycling bin; before disposing of the pump, unscrew it and sort it separately as plastic.
