Amber Matte Glass Bottle, Glossy Silver White Dropper, 30 ml

Serums, facial oils and tinctures are dispensed drop by drop, and light harms them. This matte amber glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 30 ml and a glossy silver dropper addresses both. Amber glass blocks part of the light, so the bottle is particularly suitable for light-sensitive blends, such as oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or serums containing vitamins. The dropper draws a small, repeatable amount without the contents coming into contact with your fingers, which reduces the risk of contamination when working with concentrated products.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declarations of conformity for both the bottle and the dropper are available with the product. It is not intended for food.

What the set consists of

• Bottle – matte-finish amber glass in a medicine bottle shape, with a straight neck and a thread for screwing on the dropper. Glass does not react with oils, alcohol or most active ingredients, and it is easy to wash and disinfect.
• Dropper – a glass tube with a squeezable silicone bulb and a glossy silver aluminium collar on a plastic thread. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle, so the contents can be drawn even when the level is lower.

What it is suitable for

A capacity of 30 ml corresponds to a standard pack of facial serum or facial oil that is used up within a few weeks. The bottle also works for smaller batches when testing a new formulation, for customer samples or for blends of essential oils in a carrier oil.

• Oil serums and facial oils – amber glass protects fatty acids from light, and the dropper dispenses drop by drop.
• Water-based and gel serums – the dropper draws up a thinner consistency without difficulty. With a thicker gel, test in advance whether the tube draws up enough.
• Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – glass is resistant to alcohol. When storing concentrated alcohol solutions for longer periods, check the condition of the bulb.
• Active ingredient concentrates – a small amount, precise dispensing and dark glass complement each other here.

With blends containing a high proportion of pure essential oils or solvents, check in advance how the dropper bulb tolerates the specific formulation.

Nominal capacity and brimful capacity

Nominal capacity is the amount the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. Total brimful capacity is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards once screwed in, and for slight expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal capacity, not to the brim.

Good to know

Before filling for the first time, wash the bottle, rinse it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it upside down to dry completely. Treat the dropper tube in the same way; it is enough to wipe the bulb with alcohol on the outside and rinse the inside. Any water left in the tube would show up as cloudiness in oil-based contents.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Let a hot oil phase or a freshly boiled extract cool to at least room temperature first, otherwise the glass may crack. A narrow-necked funnel or a syringe without a needle makes filling easier.

The bottle can be reused. Once empty, wash it with warm water and washing-up liquid, remove any oil residue, disinfect it and leave it to dry. Check the dropper after each cycle; a loose bulb or a cracked tube will show up as poor suction. For recycling, the glass goes in the glass bin and the dropper is sorted separately, as it combines glass, metal, silicone and plastic.
