Product description
This 30 ml glass medicine bottle with a dropper stores and precisely dispenses serums, oils and concentrates that are applied by the drop. The matte amber glass reduces the passage of light, so it is especially suitable for facial serums, oil blends and concentrates containing active ingredients that lose their effectiveness in light. The dropper lets you take a small amount without tilting the bottle and without touching the neck, so the contents stay cleaner.
The set is supplied assembled, with the bottle and dropper together. Both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products and are supported by a declaration of conformity. The matte surface of the glass reduces glare and gives the packaging a subdued, understated look.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial serums – water-based and oil-based serums with vitamins, acids or plant extracts, where dosing by the drop and protection from light matter.
- Facial and body oils – vegetable oils and blends with essential oils, applied in a few drops to the palm or directly to the skin.
- Beard oil, hair concentrates, nail oils – the dropper allows targeted application to a small area.
- Alcohol-based concentrates – both the glass of the bottle and the glass tube of the dropper tolerate an ethanol base into which extracts or essential oils are dosed.
- Test batches and samples – a volume of 30 ml is enough to try out a new formulation or to make a smaller pack for a customer who wants to try the product first.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 30 ml is the volume the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The brimful volume, given in the parameters, is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the dropper tube, which dips into the contents once screwed in, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
If the bottle is filled to the brim, the dropper will cause it to overflow when screwed in. With oils and alcohol-based blends, also allow room for the contents to expand in warm conditions.
Using the dropper
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a plastic and silicone upper part with a bulb, and a matte silver collar with a thread. To take a dose, squeeze the bulb, dip the tube into the contents and release, and the liquid is drawn up. The amount in one drop depends on the density and surface tension of the product, so the dose differs for a different formulation. If you state dosing in drops, test the number of drops with the specific product.
The dropper is designed for thin and medium-thick liquids. Thicker oils and gel consistencies are drawn into the tube slowly, and the drop is harder to release. For such products, consider a different type of closure with the same thread.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Rinse the dropper tube and let it drain, as residual water in it may dilute the first dose.
Do not pour a hot phase into the glass. Let the finished product cool first, as a sudden temperature difference can damage the glass.
For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic and silicone parts of the dropper behave in the specific formulation. It is mainly the glass tube that is in permanent contact with the contents, while the bulb comes into contact with vapours.
The bottle and the dropper can be reused. Once empty, wash and disinfect them and check that the bulb still draws firmly. A worn bulb reduces the amount drawn up, in which case replace the dropper.
You can find closures with the same thread type and other ready-made combinations of a bottle with a closure in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, dosing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
Once empty, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper is a multi-material part, so separate it and dispose of it separately.
