Product description

The amber plastic bottle with a capacity of 200 ml and a white screw cap is supplied as a ready-made set for filling with liquid cosmetic products. The bottle is made of PET, so it is lightweight and does not break if dropped in the bathroom or during delivery to the customer. The amber colour limits the amount of light that reaches the contents, which suits oils, hydrosols and products with plant extracts that are sensitive to light. The cap with a 24/410 neck finish only closes the bottle – the contents are poured or decanted from it.

What it is suitable for

The 200 ml capacity corresponds to a common retail size for body products and also works as a stock bottle for small-batch production. A cap with no dispensing function suits any use where the amount is measured by pouring or where the contents are decanted into smaller packaging.

  • Body and massage oils – darker plastic slows down yellowing and changes in the scent of vegetable oils exposed to light.
  • Hydrosols and tonics – water-based products that put no pressure on the packaging, where it is worth limiting how much light reaches the active ingredients.
  • Bath oils and shower oils – poured directly into the water or into the palm, so no pump is needed.
  • Liquid shampoos and shower gels – in a thinner consistency that can be poured from the bottle.
  • Facial waters and micellar waters – applied to a cotton pad while tilting the bottle, so a cap is sufficient.

The bottle and cap as a set

The cap is made of polypropylene (PP) and has a ribbed surface that gives a good grip even with wet hands. Inside is a foam polyethylene (EPE) liner that sits on the bottle neck and helps the closure to seal. When tightened by hand in the usual way, the set seals for both water-based and oil-based products.

If you need to dispense the contents with a pump or a sprayer, you will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, check the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific product.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 200 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brim volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the cap with its liner and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume. An overfilled bottle leaks when closed and the cap does not seat properly.

With your first batch, fill one bottle up to the nominal volume, close it and leave it for a day, lying on its side and with the neck facing down. You will find out whether this cap seals with your formulation and whether the volume reserve is sufficient.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely with the neck facing down. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declaration of conformity on the product page. It is not approved for contact with food, so it is not suitable for homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions.

PET softens with heat. Let emulsions, gels and infusions cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle wall may deform and the neck will stop sealing. The bottle is not intended for aggressive chemicals. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend checking compatibility with PET on a single bottle before filling a larger quantity.

Undiluted essential oils and fragrance compositions can damage PET over time. Use the set for finished, diluted products. Concentrates belong in glass.

After washing and drying, you can reuse the bottle and cap. Check that the cap liner stays in place and is not deformed. Before recycling, unscrew the cap – the bottle belongs with PET plastics and the cap with polypropylene.

Frequently asked questions

Does an amber plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
The amber colour of the plastic limits the amount of light that reaches the contents, but it is not complete protection. With vegetable oils, hydrosols and products with extracts, this slows down changes caused by light. Even so, store the bottle out of direct sunlight, especially if the contents do not contain antioxidants.
How much actually fits in a 200 ml plastic bottle and how far should it be filled?
The plastic bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 200 ml, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is larger, and this difference serves as a reserve for the cap liner and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you overfill the bottle, the contents will leak when you close it and the cap may not seat on the neck.
Can the plastic bottle with a white cap be washed and used again?
Yes, the bottle and cap can be washed, disinfected and reused. Rinse the bottle with warm water and a cleaning product, not hot water, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry with the neck facing down. Check the condition of the foam liner in the cap – a deformed liner stops sealing.
Is the PET plastic bottle suitable for oils, water-based and alcohol-based products?
Vegetable oils, hydrosols, tonics and emulsions are common and suitable contents for a PET plastic bottle. For products with a high alcohol content, undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking compatibility on a single bottle, as the bottle is not intended for aggressive chemicals. Concentrates and pure essential oils belong in glass bottles.
Does the white ribbed cap also seal during transport?
When correctly hand-tightened, the cap with the foam liner seals for both water-based and oil-based products. The seal depends on the specific formulation, the temperature at filling and whether the bottle is overfilled. Before sending the first bottles to customers, we recommend turning the filled bottle neck down and leaving it like that for several hours.
