Product description

A brown 150 ml PET bottle with a white sprayer and a matte silver ring is a ready-made packaging and closure set for everything applied as a fine mist. It is suitable for toners, hydrolats, facial and body mists, hair sprays, air fresheners or alcohol-based solutions for disinfecting hands and surfaces.

The brown tint of the bottle reduces light exposure and thus helps protect light-sensitive contents, such as hydrolats, infusions or products with plant extracts. PET is lightweight and unbreakable, so the bottle is also suitable for the bathroom, a handbag or travel, where glass would be a risk. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

The sprayer works best with liquid, low-viscosity contents: water-based solutions, hydrolats, toners with glycerin, hair sprays, fresheners for textiles and air, or alcohol-based solutions. Thanks to the 150 ml volume, the set is also suitable for retail packaging of toners and mists, not just for home use.

Thick emulsions, gels and creamy textures will not pass through the sprayer or will be released in an irregular dose. For these, bottles with a pump or jars are more suitable. With light oils and oil blends we recommend testing the behaviour of the sprayer beforehand – some oils spray well, others form more of a stream than a mist.

Before the first filling, wash and rinse both the bottle and the sprayer and disinfect them with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, then let them dry completely. Residual water could affect the microbiological stability of the contents.

Nominal volume and brim-full volume

The bottle has a nominal volume of 150 ml, which is the volume it is intended for under normal filling. The total brim-full volume is larger, because it also includes the space up to the neck. The difference between the two values forms a reserve for the sprayer tube, for the air above the surface and for possible expansion of the contents with a change in temperature. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and the sprayer draws up less well. What is good to know

The sprayer tube is longer than the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it reaches just above the bottom; the contents are then drawn out almost entirely and the tube does not kink.
The first presses after filling serve to draw the contents into the sprayer; the mist appears only after several presses. The same happens after a longer period of non-use.
Contents with alcohol are normally withstood by PET. With a high proportion of essential oils, solvents or perfume compositions, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation, as the plastic may soften or become cloudy.
Heat – fill the bottle with cooled contents; hot solutions can deform the PET. Do not place the packaging near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
Reuse – after emptying, the set can be washed and refilled. When changing the type of contents, thoroughly rinse the tube and the nozzle of the sprayer as well, so that residues do not mix.
Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of polypropylene with an aluminium ring; separate them before disposal.

The set is not approved for contact with food. Do not use it for edible oils, syrups or beverages; it is intended for cosmetic and technical solutions.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown 150 ml plastic bottle protect the contents from light?

The brown tint of the bottle limits the passage of light, but does not block it completely. For ordinary toners, hydrolats and mists the protection is sufficient, but the contents should still be stored out of direct sunlight. For exceptionally light-sensitive ingredients we recommend keeping the bottle in a box or in a dark cabinet.

Can oil be dosed through the sprayer on the brown plastic bottle?

The mechanical sprayer is built for liquid water-based and alcohol-based contents. Light oils may pass through, but they often form more of a stream than a fine mist and the sprayer wears out faster. Before filling a larger amount, we recommend testing the specific oil in a single set and assessing whether the result is acceptable for your product.

How much content does the sprayer release with a single press?

One full press releases approximately 0.12 ml of content. From a bottle filled to the nominal volume of 150 ml you thus obtain approximately 1,250 doses. The figure applies to water-based solutions; thicker or foaming contents may reduce the dose and the mist will be less fine.

Can I pour a solution with a high alcohol content into the brown plastic bottle?

Yes, PET normally withstands alcohol-based solutions used in cosmetics, such as disinfectant sprays or toners with alcohol. For solutions with a high proportion of essential oils or with solvents, we recommend a packaging stability test over several weeks, because these substances may soften or cloud the plastic over time.

How is the bottle-and-sprayer set cleaned before refilling?

Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse it and disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Pump clean water through the sprayer several times and then alcohol, so that the tube and the nozzle are cleaned. Let both parts dry completely; moisture in the packaging shortens the shelf life of the new contents.
