The glass bottle is in general a very stable packaging material that is often a good choice even for products with a higher proportion of active components or plant extracts. However, when developing the formulation we always recommend carrying out your own stability and compatibility tests so that you can verify the behaviour of the specific formulation over time, including possible changes in colour, odour or viscosity. In the case of very acidic, alkaline or otherwise atypical formulations, testing is particularly important.

The bottle can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the packaging must be thoroughly washed, residues of the previous product removed and then disinfected with a suitable agent. For disinfection we recommend, for example, isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol available in our range: IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After disinfection, allow all parts to dry completely and only then refill them with a new product.

First mechanically remove the remaining product, then wash the packaging in warm water with a suitable cleaning agent that dissolves the used base (oil-based or water-based) well. Then rinse the packaging with clean water so that no residues of the cleaner or product remain. The last step should be disinfection – for example using isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol from our range – and thorough drying of all parts at room temperature. For dispensers we recommend allowing the disinfecting solution to pass through the internal mechanism as well and then pumping it several times “empty” so that alcohol residues can evaporate.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material specified in the product parameters. The glass body of the bottle, after being emptied and basically rinsed of product residues, generally belongs in the container intended for glass. The dispenser, dip tube and any plastic parts are sorted according to the type of plastic, which is given in the material designation of the packaging in the parameter table. Always follow the local waste sorting rules in your municipality or city to ensure the most efficient recycling possible.
