Product description

AvenaPlex is an active lipid complex from oats with a proven effect on skin barrier restoration, hydration and well-ageing. Its unique blend of phyto-ceramides, phospholipids, sterols and free fatty acids replenishes stratum corneum lipids and rapidly reduces TEWL (transepidermal water loss). Independent tests (in vivo/ex vivo) confirm an increase in ceramides and hyaluronic acid in the epidermis, an improvement in the organization of lipid lamellae and a visible reduction of wrinkles.

Use in formulation

Solubility: lipophilic ingredient - suitable for oil phase or anhydrous products.
Dosage: effects demonstrated at 1%; recommended 1-1.5% depending on product type.
Processing: to be added to the oil phase or after emulsification at lower temperatures (up to approx. 40 °C). Do not heat above 75 °C.

The manufacturer has proven that as little as 1% of AvenaPlex in a facial serum produces visible results - more hydration, a firmer barrier and fewer wrinkles.

Is it more suited to oil or emulsion products?

It is lipophilic - ideal for oil serums, balms and the oil phase of emulsions. It has been used in studies as both a 1% serum and ~1.4% oil.
