Product description
The 100 ml glass bottle with dropper is used for precise, drop-by-drop dispensing of liquid cosmetic preparations. The blue glass reduces light transmission, so light-sensitive contents keep their colour and fragrance for longer. It is suitable for facial oils, oil serums, essential oil blends in a carrier oil, hair oils, tinctures, alcohol extracts and massage oil blends in smaller packs. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and is intended for cosmetic preparations.
What the set includes
The bottle has the shape of a pharmaceutical bottle with straight walls and a narrow neck, which is easy to fill with a funnel or a dosing syringe. The dropper consists of a white screw cap, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. The length of the tube is matched to this bottle, so it draws up the contents even when the level is low. The cap has a tamper-evident ring: it breaks off the first time the cap is unscrewed and stays on the neck, so the customer can see that the bottle has not been opened before. For retail packaging this is a useful safeguard, and for your own home production it does no harm.
The set is supplied as a ready-made combination of bottle and dropper, so you do not need to worry about the neck and closure matching. If you later want to use the bottle with a different closure, the Handymade range includes closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the tightness and behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube, which displaces part of the contents when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents overflow when the dropper is fitted and soil the thread.
When filling for the first time, check the level against a measuring cup or scale and make a note of it. With oils, filling by weight has proven reliable, because the narrow neck makes it hard to judge the level by eye.
What it is suitable for
- Oil serums and facial oils – drop-by-drop dispensing prevents over-application, and the rest of the contents stays protected in the bottle.
- Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – with highly concentrated blends, we recommend checking how the bulb and the seal behave.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol, and the dropper lets you measure a dose without pouring.
- Hair and massage oil blends – the 100 ml volume lasts a long time, and the dropper lets you apply the oil directly to the scalp or the palm of your hand.
- Samples and test batches – when developing a formulation, you can take drops from the bottle without spoiling the rest.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based preparation promotes microbial growth and spoils the appearance of the contents.
The glass withstands hot water during washing, but it should not be exposed to a sudden change in temperature. Do not pour hot contents straight into a cold bottle; let them cool to room temperature first. It is best to fill the bottle with cold or lukewarm contents.
The dropper dispenses thin and slightly viscous liquids well. Oils that thicken in the cold and gel textures are drawn up slowly, and the drops form unevenly. For such preparations, a pump or a different closure is a better choice.
The plastic and silicone parts of the dropper come into contact with the contents mainly when the bottle is tilted or when liquid is drawn up into the bulb. With solvents, concentrated essential oils and alcohol extracts, we recommend leaving the filled bottle to stand for a few days and then checking the seal and the elasticity of the bulb.
When drawing up liquid, squeeze the bulb so that the liquid stays in the glass tube. If it gets into the bulb, it is harder to rinse out from there and shortens the life of the bulb.
After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. After longer use with oils, it is better to replace the dropper with a new one, as residues of the old contents are difficult to remove from the silicone parts. When disposing of the bottle, glass goes into glass recycling; the dropper, being a combination of materials, goes into mixed waste.
