Product description

The blue glass pharmaceutical bottle with pump is designed for creams, body lotions, serums and light emulsions that you want to dispense without opening the packaging. The white pump delivers a small dose with each press, so you do not touch the contents with your fingers and the rest in the bottle stays clean. The set with a nominal volume of 100 ml is sold as a whole. Both the bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Face and body creams – the lotion pump also handles thicker emulsions that would be difficult to remove from an ordinary bottle with a cap.
  • Body lotions – more fluid emulsions are dispensed evenly and without spilling.
  • Serums and gels – a small dose corresponds to one application to the face, so nothing is wasted.
  • Cleansing emulsions and cleansing milks – the contents can be dispensed from the bottle hygienically, even with wet hands.

Very thin, water-based contents such as toners and hydrolates may pour uncontrollably from a lotion pump. Sprayers or droppers are more suitable for them. Thick ointments and anhydrous balms that solidify at room temperature are generally not pushed out by the pump.

Filling and volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. Brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between them provides a reserve for the dip tube and the body of the pump and for possible expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Once the pump is screwed on, the dip tube and the mechanism take up part of the space, and an overfilled bottle will overflow when closed.

Before first use, check that the dip tube reaches the bottom of the bottle. The pump needs several presses before it primes and starts to dispense the contents. With thicker creams this takes slightly longer. One dose is approximately 0.14 ml, which is enough for face creams and serums. For body lotions, press the pump several times as needed.

Good to know

Preparation before filling. We recommend washing the new bottle and pump, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water in the packaging could affect the stability of the emulsion.

Heat and glass. Let a hot emulsion cool to at least lukewarm before filling. Sudden heating of cold glass can cause it to crack, and warm contents will condense under the pump after closing.

Pump and formulation composition. The pump is made of polypropylene, which withstands common emulsions and vegetable oils without problems. With a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the pump with your specific recipe, especially the tightness and smoothness of dispensing after several weeks.

Creams with a higher content of waxes or butters that solidify in the cold may clog the dip tube. Before filling a whole batch, test the dispensing on a single bottle, ideally also after storage in a cooler room.

Replacement closure. The set is supplied with a pump. If you want to use the bottle with a different closure, choose according to the neck type given in the parameters. You can find ready-made combinations of bottle and closure in the Handymade range. With your own combination, verify the tightness and dispensing with your formulation.

Reuse and recycling. After thorough washing and disinfection, you can refill the glass bottle. The pump is harder to clean, because emulsion residues remain in the dip tube and the mechanism. When changing the product or after longer use, we recommend replacing it with a new one. When disposing of them, separate the glass from the plastic pump; each part goes into its own separate waste collection.

Frequently asked questions

How much cream does the 100 ml blue pharmaceutical bottle with pump hold?
The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 100 ml of contents. The brimful volume is slightly larger and remains as a reserve for the dip tube and the pump mechanism. If you fill the bottle right up to the neck, part of the contents will be pushed out when the pump is screwed on. For this reason, fill it only to the nominal volume.
Is the lotion pump also suitable for liquid serums and toners?
For serums with a gel or slightly viscous consistency, yes; for water-based toners and hydrolates, no. The lotion pump is designed for thicker products, which it pushes out in a controlled dose. Very thin contents pour out of it and may drip after pressing. A sprayer or dropper is suitable for them.
Can the blue glass pharmaceutical bottle with pump be reused?
The glass bottle, yes; the pump, with limitations. Simply wash the bottle, disinfect it and leave it to dry, and then you can fill it again. Because of the dip tube and the internal mechanism, the pump is difficult to clean, and residues of the old emulsion may spoil the new contents. When changing the product, a new pump is therefore recommended.
Is the blue pharmaceutical bottle with pump suitable for contact with cosmetic products?
Yes, both the glass bottle and the plastic pump are declared as suitable for use with cosmetic products. You can find the conformity data in the product parameters. The set is not intended for packaging food or beverages.
Why does the pump not dispense cream immediately after filling?
The pump must first fill with the contents that the dip tube draws up from the bottom of the bottle. On first use, therefore, press the pump several times in a row until the cream passes through the mechanism to the outlet. With thicker emulsions, priming takes longer. With very thick ones, the pump may not draw up the contents at all.
