Blue Glass Bottle, White Lotion Pump, 50 ml

The blue glass medicine bottle with a volume of 50 ml and a white lotion pump is intended for cosmetics that are dispensed in small portions straight onto the palm: facial serums, fluids, light creams, face and body lotions or hair serums. Blue glass filters out some of the light, so it suits formulations with antioxidants, vitamins and vegetable or essential oils, which lose their effectiveness when exposed to light. The contents are not scooped out with fingers, so fewer impurities get in during everyday use.

How the set works

The bottle has the shape of a classic medicine bottle with a narrow neck. The pump screws onto it so that the dip tube reaches the bottom. When you press the pump head, a portion of the contents is drawn up and dispensed through the nozzle. One press corresponds to approximately 0.14 ml, which is enough of a serum or fluid to treat the face. For body lotions, expect to use several presses. The amount actually dispensed depends on the viscosity of the contents and on whether the pump head is pressed all the way down.

Before first use, prime the pump with several presses until the dip tube fills and the pump starts dispensing evenly. What it is suitable for

• Facial serums and fluids – liquid emulsions and gel serums pass through the dip tube without problems, and a small dose matches normal use on the face.
• Light creams and lotions – medium-viscosity O/W emulsions that can be drawn up through the dip tube. For thicker creams, we recommend trying the pump with the finished formulation.
• Light-sensitive formulations – oil serums, blends of oils prone to oxidation, serums with vitamin C, retinol or plant extracts, for which clear glass is not recommended.
• Small batches and test samples – the 50 ml volume matches the amount that is used up within a reasonable time in home production.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between the two leaves room for the pump dip tube and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume. If the bottle is overfilled, it will overflow when the pump is screwed on, or the contents will be pushed out through the neck.

What to know before filling

The bottle and the pump are not supplied sterile. Before the first filling, we recommend washing the bottle, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump and disinfect it on the outside, as well as by pumping alcohol through the mechanism. Do not boil the plastic parts.

Thick butters, balms and very thick creams are not drawn up through the dip tube, or they clog the pump. With every new formulation, it is advisable to fill one bottle as a trial and leave it for several days under normal conditions. This will verify the dispensing, the seal and whether the contents separate in the dip tube.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you can find the declaration of conformity with the product. The bottle and the pump are not declared for contact with food, so the set should not be used for oils or syrups intended for consumption. After washing, the bottle can be used repeatedly. For recycling, glass goes with glass, and the pump, once separated from the bottle, goes with plastics.
