FAQ – Most frequently asked questions

Is this bottle suitable for repeated use?

Yes, the packaging can be used repeatedly with proper handling and observance of hygiene principles. Before each new filling, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the bottle and the sprayer and then disinfect them, for example using isopropyl alcohol or denatured plant ethanol. After applying the disinfectant, allow all parts to dry completely so that the prepared product is not diluted and the best possible hygiene standard is maintained.

How should I properly clean the sprayer so that it does not clog?

When cleaning the sprayer, we recommend first disassembling the packaging (bottle, tube and sprayer head). Rinse any remaining contents with lukewarm water, then flush the spraying mechanism with clean water by pressing the pump several times so that the water passes through the entire channel. After mechanical cleaning, it is advisable to use a disinfectant (ALK001 or ALK002 according to the designation in the Handymade range) and again allow all parts to dry thoroughly at room temperature. Avoid using water that is too hot, which may deform some plastic components.

Can the bottle be used for products containing alcohol or essential oils?

In many cases, use with formulations containing alcohol or essential oils is possible; however, we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test. Leave a small trial amount of the product in contact with the packaging for a certain time and observe any changes – softening of the plastic, changes in colour, odour or the function of the sprayer. If the product parameters state a specific limitation of the material with regard to the type of filling, follow these recommendations and choose a more suitable packaging for highly concentrated or more aggressive mixtures.

How should I correctly recycle this packaging if I no longer wish to use it?

If you decide not to reuse the bottle with sprayer, we recommend recycling it according to the material designation stated in the product parameters. First, empty its contents as thoroughly as possible and, if possible, separate the individual components (bottle body and spraying mechanism) according to the type of plastic. Then dispose of the packaging in the appropriate container for sorted waste (usually plastic), in accordance with local municipal waste collection rules. By following these principles, you will support efficient recycling and a reduction in the amount of waste.

Can I wash the bottle in a dishwasher or boil it at high temperature?

Plastic bottles and sprayers are generally not intended for cleaning at very high temperatures. Exposing the packaging to hot water, boiling or washing in a dishwasher may lead to deformation, loss of dimensional stability or impairment of the function of the thread and spraying mechanism. For maintenance, we recommend using lukewarm water, a mild cleaning agent and subsequent disinfection with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, allowing the packaging to dry naturally at room temperature.
