Product description

The glass bottle with a dropper insert and a safety cap makes dispensing drop by drop easier, so it suits concentrated contents in a small volume: essential oil blends, facial oils, oil serums, tinctures, herbal extracts or active ingredient concentrates that are measured into a recipe by the drop. The frosted glass keeps the level of the contents visible, so you can see how much is left in the bottle. The set with a nominal volume of 30 ml is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What the set consists of

  • Glass bottle 30 ml – body made of frosted glass. Glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, so the contents keep their fragrance.
  • Plastic dropper insert – a long polypropylene insert that is pushed into the neck. When the bottle is tilted or turned over, it releases the contents one drop at a time without spilling.
  • White ribbed safety cap – a polyethylene cap with a thread that matches the bottle neck. The ribbing makes it easier to grip, even with oily fingers.

How to use the set

Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, press the dropper insert into the neck as far as it will go and screw on the cap. To dispense, simply turn the bottle upside down and wait for the drop to fall. The dripping speed depends on the thickness of the contents. Thin essential oils, alcohol and aqueous extracts flow quickly, while thicker vegetable oils or oil serums flow more slowly. For viscous recipes, we recommend testing one bottle before you fill the whole batch.

The dropper insert and the cap are made of plastic, so with pure essential oils and high-alcohol contents, check how they behave with your specific formulation. The glass body tolerates these contents without any problems.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper insert once it is pushed in and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, part of the contents will spurt out when the dropper insert is pressed in, and if the bottle is stored somewhere warm, the contents may leak from under the cap.

Good to know

  • Before the first filling – wash the bottle, the dropper insert and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely.
  • Glass and heat – do not pour hot mixtures into the bottle and avoid sudden temperature changes, as the glass may crack. Let the contents cool to room temperature first.
  • Reuse – the glass body can be used again after washing and disinfection. For the next filling, we recommend planning on a new dropper insert.
  • Other closures – you can also combine the bottle with other closures for the same neck type from the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the glass body goes into glass recycling, while the dropper insert and the cap are separated before disposal and sorted as plastic.

This set is not certified for contact with food. It is intended for cosmetic products, not for edible oils, syrups or extracts intended for consumption.

Frequently asked questions

Does a frosted glass bottle protect the contents from light?
A frosted glass bottle is not a substitute for dark glass. The level of the contents remains visible through the wall, so some light passes through the glass. For light-sensitive contents, such as some citrus essential oils, choose amber glass instead or store the bottle in a box away from direct sunlight.
Can the glass bottle with a dropper insert be used for water-based toners and hydrosols?
Yes, both the glass and the polypropylene dropper insert tolerate aqueous contents. However, aqueous solutions flow quickly through the dropper insert, and a drop falls almost immediately after the bottle is turned over. For toners that are applied in larger amounts, a sprayer is therefore more convenient. The dropper insert makes sense for aqueous concentrates where the drops need to be measured precisely.
How much content actually fits into a 30 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The physical volume of the glass up to the brim is slightly larger and you can find it in the parameters. This difference serves as a reserve for the dropper insert once it is pushed in and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle were filled to the brim, the contents would be pushed out through the neck when the dropper insert is pressed in.
Is the plastic dropper insert suitable for pure essential oils?
For most essential oils, yes. However, some highly concentrated oils may soften or discolour the plastic over time, so we recommend checking the behaviour of your specific oil on one bottle over several weeks. The glass body of the bottle is not affected by essential oils.
How do I clean the glass bottle with a dropper insert before the next use?
After removing the dropper insert, wash the bottle in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse it, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely with the neck facing down. Oil residues are difficult to clean out of the dropper insert, so it is usually replaced with a new one when the bottle is refilled. The cap only needs to be washed and disinfected in the same way as the glass.
