Product description

Glass bottle with a dropper insert and safety cap, ready for filling with liquid cosmetic preparations that are dispensed drop by drop. The set consists of a clear glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml, a plastic dropper insert fitted into the neck, and a white ribbed cap with an 18/410 neck finish. It is suitable for facial and hair oils, oil serums, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, tinctures and extracts, that is, for everything that is applied in small amounts and where precise dispensing matters.

Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so you can see the amount and any cloudiness or sediment at a glance. However, it does not protect the contents from light. Store light-sensitive ingredients in the dark or in a box, or choose amber glass.

How the set works

  • Glass medicine bottle – does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, does not absorb scent, and can be washed and disinfected repeatedly. With normal filling it holds 100 ml.
  • Dropper insert – a plastic insert in the neck that releases the contents drop by drop when the bottle is turned upside down. The longer version is designed for glass medicine bottles. It dispenses liquids of low to medium viscosity best.
  • Safety cap – the ribbed surface makes it easier to grip. The cap sits tightly on the dropper insert and closes the bottle during carrying and storage.

Before the first filling, check that the dropper insert sits firmly in the neck and does not turn, and only then fill the bottle.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for with normal filling. Brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper insert and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it up to the neck, the dropper insert will push part of the contents out when inserted.

Preparation and reuse

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based preparation shortens its shelf life and creates an environment for microorganisms. Clean the dropper insert and the cap in the same way, only without soaking them for long in hot water.

The glass bottle can be reused. After the dropper insert is removed from the neck, it may loosen slightly, so check that it still holds in the neck before each new filling. For concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions and solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic parts behave with your specific formulation, especially with longer contact.

The set as a whole is declared for cosmetic products. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper insert and the cap do not. Do not use the finished set for food.

Good to know

The dropper insert retains part of the contents, and dispensing thicker oils, such as castor oil, will be slow. For viscous oils and serums with a thickener, it is better to choose a pump or another closure for a neck of the same type. Other closures with the same neck type, which is stated in the parameters, can also be fitted to a bottle without a dropper insert. You will find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Glass is sensitive to impact and sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot oil into a cold bottle; let it cool first. At the end of its life, the bottle goes into glass recycling, while the dropper insert and the cap are plastic and are sorted separately.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml glass bottle with a dropper insert suitable for essential oils?
Yes, for blends of essential oils in a carrier oil. Glass does not react with them and the dropper insert allows dispensing drop by drop. For undiluted essential oils and fragrance compositions, we recommend checking how the plastic dropper insert and cap behave with the given ingredient, because some concentrated components can damage plastics over time.
Does a clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through. The contents are visible, which helps with checking the amount and clarity, but oils and active ingredients that are sensitive to light deteriorate faster in it. Store such preparations in the dark or in a box, or use an amber or blue bottle.
How full can I fill a bottle with a dropper insert?
Fill it to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The brimful volume is larger and forms a reserve for the dropper insert and for the expansion of the contents. If you fill the bottle up to the neck, the dropper insert will push out part of the liquid when fitted and the cap may not seat properly.
Does the dropper insert also work with thick oils and serums?
It works to a limited extent with thick oils and thickened serums. The dropper insert dispenses liquids of low to medium viscosity, and thick oils such as castor oil pass through it very slowly. A pump or another closure for a neck of the same type is more suitable for such preparations.
Can the bottle with a dropper insert and safety cap be used for food?
No, not as a set: only the glass bottle itself has a certificate for direct food contact. The dropper insert and the cap are declared for cosmetic products. The whole set with the dropper insert and cap is therefore intended for cosmetics, for example oils, serums and tinctures for the skin.
How do I clean the bottle before reusing it?
Wash the bottle with warm water and a cleaning product, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Remove the dropper insert from the neck and clean it separately, as oil residues easily remain in it. Before the next filling, check that the dropper insert holds firmly in the neck.
