Yes, the packaging can be reused if handled and maintained correctly. However, before each new filling, it is essential to clean the bottle and the sprayer thoroughly and to disinfect them, in order to minimise the risk of microbial contamination. For disinfection, we recommend using a suitable alcoholic preparation, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol in cosmetic grade. In the Handymade range you will find disinfectant raw materials such as IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based, which are suitable for treating the internal surfaces of the packaging and the dispensing mechanism.

The sprayer should be cleaned gently and carefully so that the nozzle is not mechanically damaged or clogged. It is recommended to empty the bottle, rinse the interior with lukewarm water and then use a small amount of a suitable cleaning or disinfecting solution. Pump this solution through the sprayer so that the internal capillary and the nozzle are also cleaned. After disinfection, it is important to rinse the system once again with clean water and allow all parts to dry completely. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents that could damage the plastic or the sealing elements.

The bottle with sprayer is intended primarily for aqueous or water–alcohol solutions with lower viscosity. A moderate alcohol content is usually acceptable, but it is always necessary to carry out your own compatibility test – to verify whether the bottle material and the seals in the sprayer remain stable, do not deform and do not change their properties even in long-term contact with the given product. With preparations having a higher share of the oil phase, the spraying performance may deteriorate (dripping, uneven spray) or the mechanism may wear out more quickly. We therefore recommend first testing a smaller quantity and monitoring the behaviour of the packaging and of the product itself.

If you decide not to use the packaging further, we recommend first thoroughly emptying and cleaning it so that no product residues remain inside. Subsequent recycling depends on the type of plastic material stated in the product parameters (recycling mark on the packaging and information in the parameter table on the product page). Based on this information, you place the bottle in the appropriate stream of sorted waste – usually in the plastics container, or according to the instructions of the collection system in your city. It is advisable to separate the sprayer and small plastic components before disposal, if possible, so that sorting can be carried out more efficiently.
