The Boston-type glass bottle is generally suitable for most cosmetic solutions including preparations containing alcohol, because glass is a stable and chemically resistant material. Before introducing it into production we recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – fill a smaller volume of your formulation, monitor the sealing, the functionality of the sprayer, any changes in appearance or odour over time and adjust the final configuration of the packaging accordingly.

The bottle and the lever sprayer can be reused provided that strict hygiene rules are observed. Before each new filling we recommend thoroughly cleaning the packaging, rinsing it and then disinfecting it with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example technical isopropyl alcohol IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after it is completely dry is the packaging ready for a new filling. When switching to another type of product (e.g. from a cleaning spray to a face mist) we recommend paying special attention to the sprayer mechanism and any residues of the original formulation.

For the compatibility test first fill the bottle with a smaller amount of your formulation and press the lever mechanism several times so that the system is vented. Observe whether the sprayer creates a homogeneous mist without jetting, whether there is no leakage around the neck and whether the material of the sprayer does not soften and does not change colour or shape. Then leave the filled packaging standing in both vertical and horizontal positions and after 24–48 hours check the sealing and the appearance of the contents again. Only after a successful test do we recommend using the packaging for the entire production batch.

If you decide not to use the packaging any further, we recommend recycling it in accordance with the recommendations given in the parameter table for the product. The glass container can usually be placed, after emptying and rinsing, in a container intended for glass. The lever sprayer is composed of several materials (plastic, metal spring), and therefore, depending on the indicated marking, it is usually disposed of in mixed or sorted waste according to local rules. Before recycling we recommend removing product residues from the bottle and the sprayer in order to minimize contamination of the recycling stream.
