The glass packaging has high chemical stability and is therefore generally also suitable for formulations containing alcohol or essential oils. However, it is always recommended to carry out your own compatibility test of the specific recipe with the packaging as well as with the sprayer – to check the sealing, uniformity of dosing and long-term behaviour during storage. For very concentrated or atypical blends, it is advisable to first prepare a small trial quantity.

The packaging can be reused if handled correctly, but it is important to follow basic hygiene principles. Before each new filling, the bottle and the sprayer mechanism must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection you can use the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after the alcohol has completely dried and ventilated is the bottle ready for new filling.

To extend the service life of the sprayer, it is advisable to use liquids with appropriate viscosity without larger undissolved particles. After emptying the contents, you can rinse the mechanism with warm water, or with water containing a small amount of mild detergent, and finally spray through with clean water so that no residues of the cleaning agent remain in it. For formulations with a higher oil content, it is suitable to first rinse the mechanism with a small amount of alcohol and only then with water. In the case of a longer break in use, store the bottle empty and dry.

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it responsibly in accordance with local waste sorting rules. The glass bottle should be thoroughly rinsed of product residues and then placed in the container intended for sorted glass waste according to the colour of the glass stated in the product parameters. The plastic and metal components of the sprayer must be separated from the glass; then dispose of the individual parts in accordance with the recommendations for the given type of material listed in the parameter table at the product on the Handymade.sk website.
