Before each new filling, the packaging needs to be thoroughly washed, rinsed and subsequently disinfected with a suitable alcohol, for example with the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After drying and checking the functionality of the cap, the packaging is ready for further safe use.

How should the packaging be properly cleaned and disinfected before a new filling?

First, we recommend rinsing the bottle with lukewarm water and a mild detergent or a suitable degreaser, and thoroughly removing all residues of the original product. Afterwards, it is appropriate to apply an alcohol-based disinfectant – for example, the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based are very practical. After disinfection, allow the packaging to dry thoroughly, check the cleanliness of the reducer and the cap, and only then refill it.

How can this plastic packaging be safely disposed of and recycled if I do not want to use it further?

If you decide not to reuse the bottle, it is advisable to clean it from any remaining contents and, according to the material designation in the product parameters, sort it into the appropriate separated waste stream. Information about the type of plastic and the recommended method of recycling can be found in the parameter table for the product on the Handymade website. In general, the following applies: empty the packaging, rinse it basically, separate the plastic cap from the bottle body and place both parts in the appropriate container for the given type of plastic. In this way, you support efficient material recovery of the packaging.
