Yes, the packaging can be reused if handled correctly and if hygiene rules are observed. Before each new filling, it is necessary to clean the bottle and the sprayer thoroughly and then disinfect them with a suitable agent, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For disinfection we recommend the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Only after thorough cleaning and drying is the packaging ready for reuse.

After emptying the contents, we recommend rinsing the bottle and the spray head with lukewarm water and a mild cleaning agent, and then rinsing thoroughly with clean water. It is advisable to press the sprayer several times with clean water as well, so that the inner dip tube and mechanism are flushed through. After washing, let all parts dry completely at room temperature. For more heavily soiling formulations or when changing the type of filling, it is advisable to include a disinfection step using an alcohol solution to minimise the risk of microbial contamination.

Plastic packaging made from PET-type material is not intended to be exposed to high temperatures. In contact with hot water, during boiling or when washing in a dishwasher, unwanted deformation of the bottle or weakening of its mechanical stability may occur. For these reasons, boiling and dishwasher cycles are not recommended. For cleaning, rather choose lukewarm water, a mild detergent and subsequent disinfection with alcohol, so that the packaging retains its shape and functionality.

If you decide not to use the bottle with sprayer any longer, we recommend first emptying it completely and, if possible, rinsing out any remaining contents. It is then advisable to sort the packaging according to the type of material given in the product parameters – the plastic bottle is usually placed in the container intended for plastic waste, while the mechanical part of the sprayer may be composed of several materials. When sorting, follow local rules and the recycling symbol given with the product. By recycling correctly, you support waste reduction and the reuse of raw materials.
