Product description

Floral water, hydrosol, Orange Neroli in organic quality is a gentle aromatic aqueous cosmetic raw material obtained by steam distillation of the blossoms of the bitter orange tree, Citrus aurantium amara. During distillation, in addition to neroli essential oil, an aqueous phase is formed – an orange blossom hydrosol that contains fine water‑soluble and trace aromatic components of the plant. Compared to neroli essential oil, it is significantly milder, less concentrated and technologically suitable for water‑based cosmetic formulations.
Orange Neroli organic hydrosol is popular in natural cosmetics for its floral‑citrus fragrance, elegant sensory profile and suitability for products for dry, sensitive, mature, dull, tired or comfort‑seeking skin. It is used as an aqueous phase, facial water, tonic, face mist or as a gentle aromatic component in serums, gels, creams, emulsions, masks and body care products.

Key benefits

  • Gentle floral water from orange blossoms – suitable for facial, body and hair care cosmetics.
  • Suitable for dry and sensitive skin – practical for toners, facial mists and moisturizing emulsions.
  • Elegant floral‑citrus scent – gives products a subtle neroli character without strong perfuming.
  • Suitable for mature and tired skin – used in formulations focused on freshness, softness and skin comfort.
  • Water‑based alternative to neroli essential oil – suitable where gentler dosing and good solubility in water are required.
  • Good combinability – suitable with glycerin, panthenol, allantoin, aloe vera, betaine and hyaluronic acid.

Suitable for products such as

  • facial mists and toners for dry, sensitive, mature and dull skin,
  • moisturizing serums and gels with hyaluronic acid, glycerin, aloe vera or panthenol,
  • creams, facial milks and body emulsions as a gentle floral‑citrus aqueous phase,
  • clay and powder masks to be mixed immediately before use,
  • body sprays and aromatic waters with a neroli profile,
  • mild cleansing gels and micellar products with appropriate pH and preservation,
  • hair tonics and conditioners with a delicate floral scent.

Use in formulation

  • Recommended dosage: 1 – 100 % depending on the product type; can replace part or all of the aqueous phase.
  • Soluble in: water and aqueous cosmetic systems.
  • Miscible with: distilled water, glycerin, propanediol, aloe vera juice, hydrogels and water‑soluble active ingredients.
  • Compatible with: toners, serums, oil‑in‑water emulsions, shampoos, cleansing gels and facial masks.
  • It is recommended to add it during the cooling phase (at a temperature below 40 °C).
  • Combinations: pairs very well with rose hydrosol, aloe vera, panthenol, niacinamide at suitable pH, hyaluronic acid and gentle plant extracts.
  • Preservation: when incorporating into the finished formulation, always assess the preservation system of the entire product.

Safety and storage

  • Intended for cosmetic formulations and further processing in cosmetics.
  • For sensitive skin, we recommend a patch test on a small area of skin.
  • Protect from contamination, direct sunlight, heat and frost.
  • Store in a well‑closed container, ideally in a cool, dry and dark place.
  • For products intended for the eye area, for children or for very sensitive skin, assess the safety of the entire formulation.
  • In the finished product, always verify pH, microbiological stability and the suitability of the preservation system.

FAQ

Is neroli hydrosol also suitable for evening facial care?

Yes, thanks to its gentle floral scent and pleasant skin feel, it is suitable for evening toners, serums and facial mists, especially for dry or mature skin.

Can it replace neroli essential oil?

Not completely. The hydrosol is an aqueous phase with a gentle scent, while the essential oil is a concentrated oil‑based aromatic component. In a formulation they differ in intensity as well as in how they are used.

Is it suitable for fragrance‑free cosmetics?

Yes, it can be used without added fragrance, but the hydrosol itself has a natural orange blossom scent that may be noticeable in the product.

Can it be combined with vitamin C?

Yes, especially with vitamin C derivatives, provided the pH of the finished product is suitable both for the form of vitamin C used and for the preservation system.

Is it suitable for a summer facial mist?

Yes, it is suitable for refreshing facial mists. For summer products, clean packaging, appropriate preservation and protection from overheating are important.
