Gloss Black Glass Bottle, White Dropper, 15 ml

This glossy black glass bottle with dropper is used for filling and precisely dispensing small volumes of liquid cosmetic products. The black glass is opaque and protects the contents from light, which you will appreciate especially with facial serums, essential oil blends or active ingredients that lose stability in light. The white dropper with a glass tube dispenses drop by drop, so it is suitable wherever a product is applied in small amounts.

The set consists of a bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml and a dropper with a tamper-evident ring. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, but the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

• Facial and oil serums – drop dispensing allows you to apply exactly as much as the skin needs, without fingers touching the contents of the bottle.
• Essential oil blends and fragrance oils – the dark glass protects sensitive ingredients from light and the dropper makes it easier to dispense drop by drop into a diffuser, massage oil or bath.
• Cuticle, eyebrow and beard oils – the small volume matches the rate at which such products are used.
• Samples and test batches – the volume is enough to try out a recipe or to make a sample for a customer before you decide on a larger pack.
• Tinctures and concentrates for cosmetic use – the dropper allows the dose to be measured precisely.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill the bottle higher, the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the dropper is fitted and will soil the thread.

Dropper and dispensing

The dropper has a white top part made of PP, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. Squeezing the bulb draws in the contents, and releasing the pressure dispenses them drop by drop. The size of the drop depends on the viscosity of the product. A thick oil forms larger and slower drops, while a water-based toner or an alcohol solution forms smaller and faster ones. Therefore, test the number of drops for the instructions for use directly with the finished recipe.

The tamper-evident ring separates from the closure the first time the dropper is unscrewed. The customer can thus see that the bottle has not been opened before. Once separated, the ring has no effect on tightness and the dropper is then screwed in again in the usual way.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle would get into an anhydrous product and impair its stability. Rinse the glass tube in the same way and make sure no liquid remains in the silicone bulb.

The bottle can be reused if you wash and disinfect it again after emptying. With the dropper, it is worth checking whether the bulb has changed after longer use and whether the glass tube is cracked, as this is the most stressed part. The black glass withstands washing in warm water, but a sudden change in temperature, for example hot water on cold glass, is best avoided.

Unlike clear glass, the glossy black surface does not show the level of the contents, so the customer cannot see how much product is left. It therefore helps to state in the instructions an approximate number of drops per use.

The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper consists of plastic, silicone and glass, so it is advisable to separate the glass tube from the plastic part before recycling.
