Product description
Glass bottle, clear, white and gold dropper, 10 ml
A glass pharmaceutical bottle, 10 ml, with a white and gold dropper for products that are dispensed by the drop: facial serums, oil concentrates, essential oil blends, bath concentrates dispensed in drops or small-pack samples. The dropper screws directly onto the neck, the clear glass shows the colour of the contents and the white bulb with a gold ring looks clean on the shelf. The set works equally well for retail and for home production.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; the declaration of conformity and supporting documents are listed with the product.
What the set is suitable for
- Oil serums and facial oils – the dropper takes a precise dose onto the palm or directly onto the skin, without pouring and without fingers touching the contents.
- Essential oil blends – the small volume suits concentrated blends that are dispensed by the drop into a diffuser or a carrier oil.
- Aqueous and alcohol-based concentrates – plant extracts and fragrance concentrates intended for cosmetics.
- Samples and trial packs – 10 ml is enough to try out a product, and the bottle takes up minimal space.
Clear glass and light
Clear glass does not filter light. Products with light-sensitive ingredients, such as unrefined oils, retinol, vitamin C or some essential oils, are better suited to amber or blue glass, or to storage in a box or in the dark. A clear pharmaceutical bottle, on the other hand, is right for products where the colour of the contents is part of the result: coloured oil serums, extracts or products with natural colorants.
If you are filling a light-sensitive formulation, state on the label that it should be stored in the dark and pack it in a carton. Clear glass is then not an obstacle.
How the dropper works
The dropper consists of a glass tube with a silicone bulb, an aluminium ring and inner plastic parts. You dispense by squeezing the bulb below the liquid surface and releasing it, after which the contents are pushed out in drops. The size of a drop varies with the liquid; with oils it tends to be larger than with water.
The 18/410 neck finish is the same on the bottle and on the dropper, so the set seals without further adjustment. For your own combination with another closure of the same neck type, we recommend checking the seal and the dispensing with your specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for under normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the pharmaceutical bottle up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two provides a reserve for the dropper tube, which displaces part of the volume once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
When filling, leave room in the neck for the dropper tube. A pharmaceutical bottle filled to the neck cannot be closed without part of the contents overflowing.
Good to know
- Preparation before the first filling – wash the pharmaceutical bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube would get into an anhydrous product.
- Reuse – the glass can be washed and used again. After oils and essential oils the silicone bulb may retain a scent, so when changing the contents it is better to replace the dropper or check that it has not changed shape and elasticity.
- Concentrated essential oils and solvents – the glass is resistant to them, but the plastic and silicone parts of the dropper may soften or change colour with long-term contact. Test compatibility with your specific blend in one filled pharmaceutical bottle over several weeks.
- Glass and heat – pour in the contents once they have cooled. A hot oil phase or a rapid change from cold to warm can crack the glass.
- Recycling – the pharmaceutical bottle belongs with glass; unscrew the dropper before discarding the bottle. The dropper is made of several materials and is sorted separately according to local rules.
