Product description
The glass bottle with sprayer is a ready-made set for your own sprays: a green glass medicine bottle, 100 ml and a black fine mist sprayer with a smoky overcap, 18 mm thread. The green glass blocks part of the light, so the contents are protected better than in a clear bottle, and you can still see through the wall how much product is left. The smoky overcap shows the shape of the sprayer and also protects it from dust and from being pressed accidentally in a bag.
The set is intended for liquid cosmetic products that are applied by spraying: facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists, hair sprays and perfumed waters. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and the declarations of conformity are available with the product. The set is not approved for contact with food.
What the set is suitable for
- Toners and hydrosols – watery products with low viscosity are sprayed evenly in a fine layer, without touching the skin with your hands.
- Face and body mists – including mists with a low proportion of solubilised oils or fragrances, as long as they stay as thin as water.
- Perfumed waters and alcohol sprays – glass does not react with alcohol, and a PP sprayer is commonly used with alcohol bases. We recommend checking compatibility with your specific formulation.
- Hair sprays and leave-in care – thin solutions with humectants, proteins or hydrosols that are applied to the lengths of the hair.
The sprayer cannot handle thick serums, emulsions with higher viscosity or gels. The mechanism is designed for liquids close to water. For oil bases and products with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking the behaviour of the plastic parts of the sprayer in a longer test.
The bottle and sprayer as a whole
The bottle has a medicine-bottle shape: straight walls, a rounded shoulder and a neck with an external thread. The sprayer screws directly onto the neck, and the dip tube reaches to the bottom, so almost all of the contents can be sprayed out. One press releases a dose of approximately 0.12 ml. This amount produces a fine mist without a continuous stream. The smoky overcap fits over the head and prevents accidental spraying during transport.
The set is put together so that both parts fit each other. If you later want to use the bottle with a different closure, you can find closures with the same neck type according to the parameters, as well as other ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for with normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the submerged part of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is filled to the nominal 100 ml, never to the brim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is screwed on, and the contents get onto the thread, where they may become sticky over time.
After screwing on the sprayer, press it several times without product until the tube fills. The first doses are often weaker or contain air, which is not a defect of the mechanism.
Preparation, cleaning and reuse
Before the first filling, the bottle is washed with warm water and a cleaning product, rinsed and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The tube and the head of the sprayer are treated in the same way, and the disinfectant solution is sprayed through them several times. Both parts must dry completely before filling, so that residual water does not dilute the product or worsen its microbiological stability.
Glass withstands disinfection and repeated use without limitation. However, sudden changes in temperature are not good for it, so the bottle is filled with a product cooled to room temperature, not straight from the pot. After emptying, check that the sprayer is not clogged with residue of the previous contents, rinse it and let it dry.
Water-based products in a spray need preservation just as in any other bottle. The sprayer prevents the contents from coming into contact with fingers, but with each press, air is drawn into the bottle through the tube.
The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling and the polypropylene sprayer in plastic recycling. Before disposal, separate and empty both parts.
