FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Can this plastic bottle with spray pump be used repeatedly?

Yes, the packaging can be reused with appropriate handling. However, for each new filling we recommend following strict hygiene rules – the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before use. For disinfecting the surface and the internal space of the packaging you can use, for example, isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, available in the Handymade range: IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol and etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný. After cleaning, let the packaging dry completely and only then refill it.

How should I correctly clean and disinfect the bottle with spray pump before further use?

Before reuse, we recommend mechanically rinsing the bottle with a suitable cleaning solution or warm water with a mild detergent (if it is compatible with the material and the residues of the original product). Then treat the inside of the packaging and the parts of the spray pump with an alcohol-based disinfectant, for example with the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alkohol or etanol 96 % denaturovaný rastlinný. After disinfection, allow all parts of the packaging to air out and dry thoroughly so that moisture does not accumulate inside before refilling.

Is the plastic material of this bottle suitable for exposure to high temperatures or washing in a dishwasher?

Plastic packaging of this type is not intended for long-term exposure to high temperatures. High temperature may lead to deformation of the bottle walls, deterioration of the spray pump sealing and limitation of the functionality of the entire dosing system. Therefore, we do not recommend boiling the packaging or washing it in a dishwasher. For cleaning, rather use lukewarm water, a mild cleaning agent and subsequent disinfection with an alcohol-based preparation according to the recommendations in the previous answers.

How can I safely recycle the plastic bottle with spray pump if I no longer want to use it?

If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend placing it in sorted waste according to the material type indicated in the parameters of the specific product on the Handymade website. Before disposal, it is advisable to empty the bottle as much as possible and, if necessary, rinse out product residues. Then place the packaging in the relevant collection container for the given type of plastic according to local waste-sorting rules. The spray pump may consist of several plastic components, therefore also follow the recommendations of your waste collection system – as a rule, it belongs in sorted plastic waste unless local rules state otherwise.
