Product description

Macadamia oil, cold pressed, BIO, deodorized is a vegetable oil obtained from the seeds (nuts) of the Macadamia integrifolia tree. The basis of production is mechanical cold pressing (LCP), which preserves the natural lipid profile of the oil. It then undergoes a gentle deodorisation - a physical process designed to reduce or remove the oil's natural aroma without conventional chemical refining. The result is an oil with a more neutral scent, particularly suitable for formulations where you don't want to affect the resulting fragrance, but want to preserve the character of the cold-pressed oil.

The organic quality indicates the origin of the raw material from organic farming. The oil is popular in cosmetics for its comfortable sensory similar to natural sebum, good spreadability and versatile use in skin, body and hair products.

Active ingredients and natural components

  • Fatty acids typical of macadamia: a high proportion of monounsaturated fatty acids, including palmitoleic acid (omega-7), which is structurally close to the lipids naturally occurring in the skin.
  • Minor constituents: tocopherols and other lipid fractions may occur naturally in cold-pressed oils; deodorisation may slightly reduce their amount.
  • Natural SPF: the literature lists a low SPF of approximately 3-4 for macadamia oil; it is not a substitute for sunscreen.

Key benefits

  • Softens and smooths skin without a noticeable greasy film.
  • Promotes skin comfort for dryness and tightness - suitable for use in regenerative formulas.
  • More neutral fragrance compared to undeodorised LZS oil - ideal for use in both perfumed and unperfumed products.
  • Versatile emollient for skin, body and hair cosmetics.
  • Good sensoriality - fast spreadability and a smooth, "satin" finish.

Suitable for products such as

  • facial oils and oil serums (also as a base for blends)
  • creams, body lotions and emulsions with active ingredients
  • body and massage oils
  • lip balms, protective balms and sticks
  • hair products: oil treatments, hair serums, leave-in creams
  • cosmetics for sensitive skin, where a low aroma of the raw materials is desirable

Use in formulation

  • Recommended dosage: in practice, approximately 1-10% is commonly used in emulsions and 5-100% in oil products, depending on the type of formulation.
  • Miscible with most vegetable oils, butters and emollients.
  • Compatible with common emulsifiers used in natural and professional cosmetics.
  • Insoluble in water - belongs to the oil phase.
  • Recommended to add during cooling (at temperatures below 40 °C), especially for emulsions and products with sensitive actives.
  • Tip: for oil serums and water-free products, consider adding an antioxidant (e.g. tocopherol or rosemary CO2 extract).

Safety and storage

  • For external use only; avoid contact with eyes.
  • We recommend a tolerance test on a small area of skin before first use.
  • For persons with increased sensitivity to nuts, we recommend extra caution.
  • Store well sealed, in a dry and dark place, out of direct sunlight and heat sources.

FAQ - frequently asked questions

How does deodorized LZS macadamia oil differ from refined oil?

Deodorized LZS oil is cold-pressed and then only physically deodorized, whereas refined oil undergoes several purification steps. The deodorised version retains more of the character of the cold-pressed oil, but has a more neutral aroma.

Is this oil suitable for perfumed creams?

Yes. It is the deodorisation that reduces the risk of the oil's natural aroma competing with perfumes or essential oils in the finished product.

Is it also suitable for cosmetics for sensitive skin?

Due to its more neutral scent and pleasant sensory profile, it is often a choice for sensitive skin formulations, but it always depends on the whole formulation and individual tolerance.

Does deodorization affect the effectiveness of the oil?

Deodorisation may slightly reduce the content of some volatile and aromatic components, but the main lipid component of the oil and its emollient properties are retained.

Is this oil suitable for professional cosmetic formulations?

Yes. Its stable sensory, neutral aroma and organic origin make it suitable for professional creams, serums, body milks and hair products.
