Product description

A 250 ml plastic bottle made from recycled PET with a matte white flip-top cap is a ready-to-use set for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetics: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners and body lotions. PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making the bottle suitable for the shower, bathroom sink and travel. The transparent wall lets you see the colour and texture of the contents as well as how much product remains.

The flip-top cap opens with one hand and stays on the bottle, so it won't get lost during use. The product is dispensed by squeezing the bottle through the small opening, which makes it easier to measure out smaller amounts and reduces spills. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

Suitable products for this set

  • Hair care products – shampoos and conditioners that flow but are not as thin as water; the cap opening releases them when squeezed, and the flow stops when pressure is released.
  • Shower gels and liquid soaps – plastic won't shatter in the bathroom the way glass does, and the cap can be opened with a wet hand.
  • Body lotions and light emulsions – suitable for textures that flow on their own towards the neck; thick creams and butters are difficult to dispense through the small opening and are better suited to a jar.
  • Thin liquids – tonics, micellar waters or massage oils are dispensed by tilting the bottle; the flow is faster, so only gentle pressure is needed.

Products with larger solid particles, such as coarse-grain scrubs, may clog the cap opening. For such formulations, it is advisable to test dispensing beforehand.

The bottle is made from recycled PET and should be placed in the plastic recycling stream after use.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The headspace below the neck will prevent product from being forced out when closing and will make dispensing by squeezing easier.

What to know before filling

Preparing the packaging. Before first filling, wash the bottle and cap with lukewarm water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture in the packaging unnecessarily burdens the product's preservation.

PET tolerates heat less well than glass and hot contents may deform the bottle. Products manufactured by hot-fill should be filled only after cooling, and boiling water should not be used for cleaning.

Compatibility with contents. The bottle is intended for water-based products, emulsions, oils and commonly fragranced cosmetics. Do not expose it to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of alcohol, essential oils or solvents, a short compatibility test with a filled bottle is recommended.

Light. The transparent wall does not protect the contents from light, so store the filled bottle away from direct sunlight.

Label and closures. The dimensions needed for label design are listed in the specifications. Additional closures with the same neck type and ready-to-use combinations are available in the Handymade range. When using your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the transparent 250 ml PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. For standard shampoos, shower gels and liquid soaps stored in the bathroom this is generally not an issue. Products containing vegetable oils prone to oxidation, extracts or natural colourants may change in colour and scent when exposed to light. It is therefore advisable to keep them away from direct sunlight.
Can a warm product be filled into a recycled PET bottle?
Hot products should not be filled into a PET bottle; lukewarm ones may be. Heat can deform the bottle or cause it to lose its shape at the neck. Emulsions and gels manufactured by hot-process should therefore be allowed to cool before filling. For the same reason, the bottle should not be cleaned with boiling water and should not be stored near heat sources.
Can the plastic bottle with a flip-top cap be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and cap can be refilled after thorough cleaning. Wash the packaging with lukewarm water and a cleaning agent, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Pay particular attention to the cap opening and hinge, where product residue tends to collect. A scratched or deformed bottle is better discarded.
Is the 250 ml plastic bottle with a flip-top cap suitable for food products?
No, this set is not approved for food contact and is intended for cosmetics. Both the bottle and cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. For syrups, cooking oils or other food products, a packaging item that explicitly states food-contact suitability in its specifications should be chosen.
Can a closure other than a flip-top be used on the 250 ml recycled PET bottle?
Yes, closures with the same neck type listed in the specifications will fit the bottle. The choice depends on the texture of the product: thicker emulsions are more easily dispensed with a pump, thin liquids with a sprayer. After changing the closure, it is advisable to check the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation. Fill the bottle, close it and leave it lying on its side for a while.
