Product description

A clear PET bottle with a volume of 150 ml and an aluminium screw cap make a ready-made pair for liquid cosmetic products that are dispensed by pouring. The clear plastic shows the colour and the level of the contents, so you can see at a glance how much tonic or oil is left. PET is lightweight and shatterproof, which you will appreciate when shipping parcels as well as during everyday handling in the bathroom.

The silver cap with a 24/410 neck finish gives the simple bottle shape a clean metallic look and seals the contents once tightened. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is not declared for food use.

Suitable for products such as

Facial lotions and tonics – thin water-based products applied to a cotton pad or into the palm of the hand.
Body and massage oils – the clear wall shows the colour of the oil and nothing obstructs pouring from the neck.
Make-up removers and micellar waters – the 150 ml volume matches the usual pack size for daily make-up removal.
Hair rinses and diluted concentrates – vinegar or herbal rinses that are prepared in advance for several uses.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume of 150 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values leaves room for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill the bottle up to the neck, part of the contents is pushed out when the cap is tightened.

Closure and tightness

The cap has an aluminium shell and a foam polyethylene (EPE) liner inside, which sits on the rim of the neck once tightened and seals the contents. It is tightened by hand, without tools. You will find closures with the same neck type, as stated in the parameters, and ready-made bottle + closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you choose your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or in the cap liner would dilute the contents and, in water-based formulations, put extra strain on the preservative system.

Good to know

Clear PET does not block light. Store oils prone to yellowing, hydrolates and products with light-sensitive active ingredients away from direct sunlight, or choose dark packaging for them.

PET is not designed for hot filling. Let emulsions, solutions and oils cool down to room temperature before filling, otherwise the wall of the bottle may deform.

Concentrated essential oils, aggressive solvents and products with a high alcohol content can damage the plastic. For such formulations or for undiluted concentrates, we recommend testing the behaviour of the bottle on a single piece first.

The bottle and the cap can be reused if you wash and disinfect them thoroughly after emptying. Check the cap liner during cleaning. If it is deformed or soaked, replace the cap. For recycling, the bottle is sorted with plastics, while the aluminium cap is unscrewed and sorted separately with metals.

Does a clear 150 ml PET bottle protect the contents from light?

No, clear PET does not block light. For tonics, make-up removers and most common oils this is usually not a problem when they are stored away from direct sunlight. Formulations with light-sensitive active ingredients or oils prone to oxidation are better filled into dark packaging, for example amber glass.
