Product description
This clear 150 ml plastic bottle with white pump dispenses liquid and medium-thick products with a single press, with no unscrewing and no finger contact with the contents. Through the clear PET you can see how much product is left, and the bottle does not break if dropped, so the set works well in the bathroom and while travelling. It is most often filled with liquid soap, shampoo, shower gel or body lotion.
Both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. They are supplied as a ready-made set with a 24/410 neck finish, the pump fits the neck exactly and there is no need to buy it separately.
How the pump dispenses
One press dispenses approximately 1 ml of product. The value is indicative. When using the pump for the first time, press it several times to prime it until the dip tube fills and the product starts to flow evenly.
The mechanism is designed for liquids and for emulsions that pour easily, that is, light lotions, gels, liquid soaps and oils. Thick creams, body butters and products with scrub particles clog the pump or do not pass through it at all. For such textures a jar or a bottle with a cap is more suitable.
The dip tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first filling, trim it so that it ends just above the bottom, otherwise it will bend in the bottle and the pump will not draw up the last doses.
Nominal volume and brimful volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling, that is, 150 ml. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the pump and dip tube, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on.
What the set is suitable for
- Liquid soap and shower gel – one-handed dispensing is convenient and hygienic at the sink and in the shower, and the contents do not come into contact with your fingers.
- Shampoo and thinner conditioner – the 150 ml volume is enough for a travel pack or for a trial batch that you want to test before making a larger quantity.
- Body and face lotion – light O/W emulsions with lower viscosity pass through the pump without problems.
- Massage oil and make-up remover oil – with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking how the packaging behaves before filling a whole batch.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. The easiest way to rinse the pump, including the dip tube, is to pump the disinfectant through it several times.
Clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. Products with oils prone to oxidation or with active ingredients that lose their effect in light are better kept in dark glass; alternatively, store the clear bottle in a closed cupboard.
The bottle is designed for storage at normal room temperature and must be protected from heat and direct sunlight. Fill emulsions and gels only after they have cooled, as hot filling deforms PET.
Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of alcohol, with solvents or with concentrated essential oils, check compatibility with the PET bottle and the PP pump in the finished formulation, ideally on a single piece over several weeks.
The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Only the pump has a separate certificate for direct contact with food, the bottle does not, so this set should not be used for homemade oils, syrups or infusions.
For recycling, separate the pump from the bottle. The bottle is made of PET and the pump of PP, which are two different plastics.
If you want to combine the bottle with a different closure, the Handymade range includes caps, sprayers and pumps with the same neck finish. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
