The packaging can, if hygiene principles are observed, be used repeatedly. Before each new filling, the bottle and spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed, and then the packaging must be disinfected with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example IPA 99 % – isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After complete drying, the packaging can be refilled and further used.

First empty any remaining contents, rinse the bottle with warm water and a suitable cleaning agent, and then rinse several times with clean water so that no detergent residues remain in the packaging. The spray pump should be flushed by drawing in clean water and emptying it several times by spraying. After mechanical cleaning, we recommend disinfecting the packaging and the mechanism with alcohol (e.g. IPA 99 % or ethanol 96 %) and allowing it to dry completely at room temperature.

The spray pump is ideal for low-viscosity, liquid preparations that need to be applied in a thin, even layer. In practice, these are mainly facial and body waters, floral hydrolats, hair tonics, air fresheners, textile sprays or mild cleaning solutions. For thicker emulsions or oil blends it is always necessary to test whether the mechanism can dispense the product without problems and whether the spray pump does not become clogged.

Before recycling, it is advisable to empty the bottle and remove any residues of the contents. The method of sorting is based on the type of plastic material given in the product parameters on the Handymade website – according to the recycling symbol you place the packaging in the appropriate container for sorted waste (most often plastic). The spray pump may be made up of several parts, so follow local waste sorting rules. If you are not sure, we recommend cleaning the packaging and handing it over to a collection yard or collection point that handles packaging materials in accordance with applicable legislation.

Suitability of use always depends on the specific composition of the product. Before filling a larger quantity, we recommend carrying out a stress compatibility test – fill a small amount of the formulation, leave the packaging for several days to weeks in conditions similar to real use and monitor changes in colour, shape, strength of the plastic and the functionality of the spray pump. If you do not observe any changes or damage to the packaging, you can safely use it for the given type of product.
