FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Can this jar be used repeatedly?

The jar can be used repeatedly for normal home and craft use, as long as it remains mechanically undamaged and retains its reliable closure. With every refilling it is necessary to follow basic hygiene principles – first clean the packaging thoroughly and then disinfect it. For disinfection we recommend using a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96% denatured plant-based. Only after the inner surface has completely dried is the jar ready for a new filling.

How should I correctly clean the jar before the next use?

Before the next use we recommend first rinsing the jar mechanically with a suitable cleaning agent that is compatible with the original content (for example a mild detergent or vegetable oil in the case of greasy residues), then rinse thoroughly with drinking water and let it dry. After the inner surfaces have dried it is appropriate to disinfect the packaging, for example by using isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol. Let the disinfectant evaporate and only then refill the jar, so that there is no unwanted effect on the fragrance or stability of the product.

How can I safely recycle the jar if I do not want to use it further?

If you decide not to reuse the jar, we recommend sorting it into separated waste according to the material specified in the product parameters for this packaging on the Handymade website. Before placing it into sorted collection it is appropriate to empty the jar and remove product residues in order to facilitate recycling. By following local sorting rules you thus contribute to efficient material processing and its re-use in the recycling process.

For which type of consistency is this jar most suitable?

The jar is most suitable for richer and semi-solid formulations, such as balms, ointments, creams, wax blends or loose cosmetic products. Thanks to its construction it allows easy scooping with a finger or spatula, which is practical especially for products intended for precise local application. When planning the recipe always take into account the viscosity and method of use, so that the final product is comfortable to dose even with repeated opening of the jar.
