Resveratrol (trans-Resveratrol, 3,5,4'-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) is a natural phytoalexin - a polyphenol known for its powerful anti-ageing properties. It is obtained from grape skins (Vitis vinifera), but also from other parts of the vine, some berries and especially from the Japanese buckwheat (Polygonum cuspidatum). In cosmetics, it is considered the "king of anti-aging actives" because it effectively protects the skin from free radicals, promotes skin renewal and counteracts the signs of aging.
