The glass container is generally a very stable and resistant packaging that is also suitable for formulations containing alcohol or essential oils. For every new recipe, however, we recommend performing a compatibility test – fill a smaller amount of product, observe the behaviour of the spray pump (smoothness of dosing, tightness) and the stability of the contents over time. In this way you verify that the specific formulation is fully compatible with this type of bottle and spray pump.

The packaging can be reused if hygiene principles are followed, especially in the context of your own production or when refilling the same type of product. Before every new filling, however, both the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. For disinfection we recommend using a suitable alcohol‑based product, for example isopropyl alcohol or ethanol of technical grade, available in the Handymade range: IPA 99% isopropyl alcohol and Ethanol 96% denatured plant‑based. This minimizes the risk of microbial contamination and of affecting the stability of the new fill.

It is advisable to maintain the spray pump on an ongoing basis so that product residues do not accumulate in it. After the contents have been used up, you can rinse the container with a suitable cleaning agent, then with clean water and, if necessary, also with alcohol. The spray mechanism itself is best rinsed by pouring a small amount of water or alcohol into the bottle, pressing the spray pump several times and letting the excess liquid run out. Always store the spray pump in a dry place and protect it from mechanical damage to the thread and nozzle.

If you decide not to reuse the bottle with spray pump, we recommend recycling it according to the types of materials used, as stated in the product parameters. After emptying and basic cleaning, the glass container is usually placed in the glass collection bin, and the plastic or composite parts of the closure and spray mechanism in the plastics bin. Always follow the recycling symbols and the information in the technical description of the given packaging so that recycling is as effective as possible and in accordance with local waste sorting rules.

When filling, it is important to maintain a clean working environment, use suitable funnels or filling aids and not overfill the bottle so that the spray pump seals properly. Before closing, check that the thread is clean and that the spray pump is tightened securely. Store the finished product in a dry place at a stable room temperature, protected from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations. This supports the stability of the formulation as well as the long‑term functionality of the packaging.
