Short for Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate. Hm, sounds so chemical, doesn't it?

And yet, there's no need to worry about this substance because it's purely natural - it's derived from the fatty acids in coconut and palm oil.
yes, it's not "hand-squeezing a fresh coconut", you need to run that coconut through some process.
But it produces a substance that is environmentally friendly and biodegradable.
(And it meets the conditions of the ECOCERT certification company).

This raw material is called a surfactant or also a tenside - a surfactant. All these three terms refer to the same substance, except that surfactant comes from the French, tenside from the English and surfactant is a generic name.

What does it actually mean in practice?

Imagine if you went to wash your greasy hands with clean water. The water won't get the grease off your hands because the grease will form a film on your skin that won't allow the water to pass through. But tenside molecules are partly lipophilic (they dissolve well in fats) and partly hydrophilic (they dissolve well in water), they can reduce the surface tension at the water-oil phase interface. This means that the tenside will reduce the surface tension of water as a solvent, the water no longer just rolls around on a greasy hand, but binds the dirt to itself and thus washes it off the skin beautifully :-) Furthermore, if you choose the right concentration, it acts on the cleansing process like a soap, except that it doesn't disturb the pH of the skin as much as a soap does.
Even its molecules are large enough so they don't penetrate the skin or mucous membranes and irritate like soap itself.

Moreover, in the process, they form a beautiful lather, which is why they are used to make liquid and solid shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, fizzy bath bombs or foam for baths, dishwashing detergents.
