Wedo is a leading global manufacturer of candle wicks and the Stabilo wick series (previously known as CD) is a favourite among professional wicks. Wicks that are considered to be among the best on the market are used by some of the largest candle manufacturers in Europe and the USA.
Stabilo cotton wicks are used in candles with a high fragrance load, in paraffin, vegetable or beeswax. They are known for their excellent burn stability, which ensures an even and long-lasting burn without excessive smoking.
These wicks are cut to a length of 120 mm, are waxed and also include a 15 mm metal sustainer. The wick is thus ready to be inserted directly into the candle container. These flat braided wicks are coreless, with a special paper fibre woven around them, which ensures their higher strength.
Wick length: 12 cmSustainer diameter: 1.5 cm
Material: pure cotton with brown paper fibres
Surface finish: paraffin
For the correct wick selection it is important to know the diameter of the candle container. In the case of a small size, your candle will not burn out to the edge and will create a so‑called tunnel. If a wick that is too strong is used, the wax will melt excessively and the entire candle will become melted instead of the wax melting gradually and evenly.
Table of wick sizes and recommended container diameter:
Stabilo 2 - <38 mm
Stabilo 3 – 38-39 mm
Stabilo 4 – 39-40 mm
Stabilo 5 – 41-43 mm
Stabilo 6 – 43-47 mm
Stabilo 7 – 48-50 mm
Stabilo 8 – 50-57 mm
Stabilo 10 – 58-64 mm
Stabilo 12 – 64-74 mm
Stabilo 14 – 75-80 mm
Stabilo 16 – 83-89 mm
Stabilo 18 – 89-95 mm
Stabilo 20 – 95-108 mm
Stabilo 22 – 109-115 mm
Stabilo 24 - >115 mm
Warning: Do not forget that selecting the correct type and size of wick depends on many factors such as the type of wax used, the amount of added fragrance, the size and material of the container, etc. It is therefore necessary that you thoroughly test the correct burn behaviour of the wick before you start the final production of candles.
