Yes, the packaging can be reused if handled correctly and if hygiene rules are observed. Before each refilling, both the bottle and the spray pump must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in order to minimize the risk of microbial contamination. For disinfection, we recommend using a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol available in the Handymade range, such as the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After disinfection, allow all parts to dry completely and only then refill the packaging.
The spray pump is ideal for liquid and low-viscosity formulations that need to be applied as a fine mist or even dispersion. In practice, this refers mainly to facial and body sprays, toners, hydrolates, light hair products or aromatic room blends. For thicker or oil-based formulations, we recommend performing a trial filling to verify the suitability of the dosing and the consistency of the spray pattern.
Before reuse, we recommend first rinsing the packaging mechanically with warm water and a mild cleaning agent suitable for contact with cosmetics, then rinsing thoroughly with drinking water and allowing it to dry. After drying, the bottle and spray pump must be disinfected with an alcoholic solution, for example the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. Allow the alcohol to evaporate and only then use the packaging again. This procedure supports the safety and stability of the new product.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend placing it in sorted waste collection according to the material stated in the product parameters. The glass bottle can generally be sorted into the container designated for glass, while the plastic or metal parts of the spray pump must be sorted according to local waste management rules. Before disposal, it is advisable to rinse the packaging free of product residues in order to facilitate its further recycling.
