Product description

Vitamin B3, also known as nicotinamide or niacinamide, is a water-soluble form of the B vitamin. In cosmetic grade, it is produced by controlled chemical synthesis or biotechnological processes based on nicotinic acid, resulting in a highly pure, stable and very well tolerated active substance for the skin.
Unlike nicotinic acid, it does not cause a "flush effect" (transient reddening of the skin), making it one of the most versatile and widely used active ingredients in modern cosmetics.

Key benefits

  • Skin barrier support - increases ceramide synthesis and reduces transepidermal water loss.
  • Regulates sebum production - suitable for oily and acne-prone skin.
  • Unifying skin tone - helps reduce hyperpigmentation and uneven discoloration.
  • Anti-inflammatory action - soothes redness and sensitive skin.
  • Promotes skin vitality - contributes to better skin elasticity and overall appearance.

Suitable for products such as

  • facial serums and creams for problematic and oily skin,
  • products for sensitive and reactive skin,
  • anti-aging formulations,
  • skin brightening products,
  • body lotions and creams.

Use in formulation

  • water soluble,
  • compatible with most common cosmetic ingredients,
  • miscible with moisturizers, antioxidants and plant extracts,
  • recommended dosage: usually 2-5% (depending on the type of product).

It is recommended to add during cooling (at temperatures below 40 °C).

Safety and storage

  • Vitamin B3 is generally considered to be a very well tolerated cosmetic raw material.
  • At higher concentrations, it may exceptionally cause mild irritation in very sensitive skin.
  • Store in a dry, cool place and in a tightly closed container, protected from moisture.

Is niacinamide also suitable for very sensitive skin?

In most cases yes, as it is a non-irritating form of vitamin B3. However, it is recommended to start with a lower concentration.

Can it be combined with AHAs or BHAs?

Yes, but pH must be monitored in the formulation so as not to reduce the stability or comfort of the skin.

Does niacinamide affect the pH of the finished product?

It has only a slight effect on pH, but it is recommended to control it, especially in products with an acidic environment.

Is it also suitable for hair cosmetics?

Yes, it is also used in shampoos and scalp tonics to promote scalp balance.

Is niacinamide stable over time?

When properly formulated and stored, it is a stable active ingredient suitable for long-term products.
