A ready-made set of a small glass bottle with a spray pump dispenser, ready to fill without searching for a suitable closure. The dispenser disperses the contents into a fine mist, making the set ideal for thin water-based and alcohol-based products in small volumes – facial mists, tonics, hydrolats, perfume waters, hair refreshers or body sprays in travel or sample packaging.

The transparent glass reveals the contents and their colour, so the customer sees what they are buying and the manufacturer can easily check clarity and any sediment. Glass does not react with the contents, does not absorb fragrance and can be washed repeatedly. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics; declarations of conformity are available with the product.

How the set works

• Fine mist – with each press the dispenser releases a small, even amount of the contents as a mist. The product is applied thinly and without drops, which is appreciated with tonics and mists that should not be rubbed in.
• Controlled dosing – one press releases approximately 0.1 ml. The small dose limits excessive use and extends the life of the packaging. With perfume waters and concentrated tonics this is more practical than a dropper or pouring.
• Dip tube – the dispenser draws the contents through a tube all the way from the bottom, so the bottle can be emptied almost completely without tilting.
• Small volume – a nominal volume of 30 ml is suitable for samples, travel packaging, test batches of new formulations or products with a shorter use period where larger packaging makes no sense.

Which products it is suitable for

The dispenser works reliably with low-viscosity contents. Suitable are hydrolats, facial and body mists, tonics, micellar waters, water-glycerol solutions with a lower proportion of glycerin, perfume waters and alcohol-based solutions, hair refreshers and light hand sprays.

Thick serums, gel tonics, emulsions and creams are not suitable – the dispenser will not atomise them or will clog. Pure thin oils can be sprayed, but the result is not a fine mist but a stream of larger drops. For more viscous oils and butter blends, we recommend a different type of closure.

Nominal and total volume

For each bottle we distinguish two figures. Nominal volume is the volume the packaging is intended for in standard filling, and this is what is stated on the label. Total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve – space for the tube and the lower part of the dispenser once screwed in, and room for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the dispenser is placed on it and is harder to close.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing the bottle, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely. The dispenser only needs to be rinsed with clean water or alcohol and pressed empty several times to flush out any residue.

The dispenser needs to be primed. The first presses fill the tube and the contents only appear after several presses. With water-based products this is usually quick, with alcohol-based and thicker ones somewhat longer.

Contents and plastic parts. The dispenser is made of polypropylene, which tolerates water, alcohol and common cosmetic ingredients well. With a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend verifying the dispenser's behaviour with the specific formulation – the contents may over time alter the elasticity of the seal or cause the mechanism to seize.

Glass and heat. The bottle can withstand normal filling temperatures, but is not suited to sudden temperature changes. Allow hot contents to cool before filling and do not move the bottle directly from cold to hot.

Reuse. The glass bottle can be used again after thorough washing and disinfection. The dispenser is harder to clean – with products containing residual oil or fragrance, it is more reliable to replace it with a new one.

With transparent glass and coloured contents, bear in mind that the label looks different on an empty and a filled bottle.

Recycling. Once used, the bottle goes in glass and the unscrewed dispenser in plastics – they simply need to be separated before disposal.
