Product description

Glass bottle, black glossy, throat spray 15 ml is a ready-made complete set of a small glass container and a dispenser with an extended applicator that delivers the contents in a precise, gentle dose exactly where you direct it. Black glossy glass protects the contents from light and completely conceals what is inside, so the packaging looks uniform regardless of the fill colour. It is suitable for low-viscosity liquid cosmetic preparations dispensed in small amounts: oral sprays for breath freshening, scalp tonics, targeted facial or hair serums on an aqueous or alcohol base, as well as samples and travel-size packs. The complete set is intended for cosmetics.

How the set works

The bottle has the shape of a vial with a narrow neck and the dispenser simply screws onto it. The dispenser draws the contents through a tube from the bottom of the bottle and delivers a small, repeatable dose when pressed. The extended applicator is the key difference from a standard spray pump: instead of a wide mist cloud, it directs the contents into a narrow stream or small cone, allowing precise application to a chosen spot – into the mouth, between the hair onto the scalp, or onto a small area of skin.

Dosing is economical. One press delivers approximately 0.1 ml, so a full bottle provides approximately 150 doses. How many applications that amounts to depends on how many presses a single application requires.

Key features

  • Light protection – black glass does not transmit visible light, which is an advantage for preparations with sensitive ingredients such as plant extracts, vitamins, or essential oils.
  • Precise application – the extended applicator delivers the contents in a targeted manner, without dispersing into the surroundings; it is suitable wherever a wide spray pump wastes the contents.
  • Glass as an inert material – the glass bottle does not react with alcohol, essential oils, or aqueous solutions and does not absorb fragrance, so it can be used without concern for alcohol tonics or aromatic sprays.
  • Small volume – the bottle is suitable for preparations that are used up quickly, for samples, and for products that are meant to stay compact for travel.
  • Uniform appearance – the black glossy bottle with a white dispenser looks clean and contrasting, and a label stands out well on it.

Nominal and total volume

Each container specifies two volumes and it is worth distinguishing between them. Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is intended at normal filling, and this is the figure that belongs on the product label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides a margin for the dip tube and the body of the dispenser, which displace some of the contents when screwed on, and for the expansion of the fill with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will be pushed out when the dispenser is fitted.

Suitable for products such as

  • oral sprays for breath freshening with mint, eucalyptus, or other aromatic ingredients on an aqueous or alcohol base,
  • scalp tonics and serums, where the applicator helps deliver the contents directly between the hair,
  • facial tonics and hydrolat sprays for targeted refreshing of small areas,
  • alcohol aromatic sprays and concentrated fragrance blends for travel,
  • samples and trial packs of serums or tonics for customers.

The contents should be as fluid as water or only slightly thicker. Thick serums, gels, and oils with higher viscosity may not be reliably drawn up by the dispenser and the stream may turn into dripping. For oily or thickened fills, we recommend testing the dosing on a small quantity before filling the entire production run.

The dispenser tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, trim it so that it reaches just above the bottom, and cut the end at an angle – the tube will then draw up even the last remains of the contents and will not kink.

Good to know

Preparation before filling. Before the first fill, wash and rinse both the bottle and the dispenser, then disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Flush the dispenser by pumping clean water through it several times followed by alcohol.

Repeated use. The glass bottle withstands repeated washing and disinfection without any change in properties. The dispenser can be reused after thorough rinsing. When changing to a fill with a different fragrance or for preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, a new piece is preferable to avoid transferring scents.

Essential oils and alcohol. Glass is completely resistant to both. The dispenser is made of polypropylene, which tolerates common concentrations of alcohol and essential oils used in cosmetics. For concentrated blends or a higher proportion of solvents, we recommend checking the seal and the behaviour of the mechanism after a few weeks in the finished formulation.

Checking the fill level. Black glass does not show the contents, so the remaining amount cannot be estimated by sight. When selling, it is a good idea to state an approximate number of doses or to advise the customer to shake the bottle.

Contact with food and cosmetics. The complete set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certification for direct food contact; the dispenser does not. The complete set as a whole is therefore not approved for food use and is intended for cosmetics.

The glossy black surface requires a label with good adhesion, especially if the packaging is used in the humid environment of a bathroom.

Recycling. The glass bottle goes into glass recycling, the polypropylene dispenser into plastics; separate them before disposal.

Closures with the same neck type as listed in the specifications, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, black glossy glass does not transmit visible light and the contents are protected from it. It is therefore suitable for preparations with plant extracts, vitamins, hydrolates, and essential oils that change under the influence of light. The packaging does not protect against heat, however, so storing away from direct sunlight is still advisable.
What is a throat spray used for in cosmetics?
A throat spray is a dispenser with an extended applicator that delivers a small dose precisely to a chosen spot. In cosmetics, it is used for oral sprays for breath freshening, scalp tonics and serums, targeted facial tonics, and aromatic alcohol sprays. Compared to a standard spray pump, it produces a narrower stream and a smaller dose, which conserves the contents.
How much can be filled into a bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The total volume to the neck is greater, but this difference is the margin for the dip tube and the dispenser body and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents will be pushed out when the dispenser is screwed on and the packaging will not seal.
Is the glass bottle with a throat spray suitable for alcohol and oil fills?
For alcohol and aqueous fills yes, for thick oils only after testing. Glass tolerates alcohol and essential oils without limitation, and the polypropylene dispenser is resistant to common cosmetic concentrations. Thick oils and gels, however, may not be reliably drawn up by the dispenser and dripping will occur instead of a stream, so we recommend testing the dosing on a small quantity first.
Can the glass bottle with dispenser be reused?
Yes, the glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol without any change in properties. The dispenser just needs to be flushed by pumping clean water and then alcohol through it. When changing to a fill with a strong fragrance or for preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, it is better to use a new piece to prevent scent transfer.
Is the complete set of bottle and throat spray suitable for food?
No, the complete set as a whole is not approved for contact with food and is intended for cosmetics. The glass bottle alone holds a certification for direct food contact; the dispenser does not. The entire complete set – both bottle and dispenser – is declared as suitable for cosmetic use.
