Aloe Vera Juice 1:1, 100 ml

Aloe vera leaf juice at a ratio of 1:1 adds a hydrating and soothing ingredient of plant origin to the water phase. It is added to facial tonics and mists, light emulsions, makeup removers and hair cosmetics, where it helps the skin and scalp retain moisture. It is obtained from the pulp of the leaves of Aloe barbadensis Miller from wild-grown plants.

A ratio of 1:1 means the juice at its original strength, neither diluted nor concentrated. It is dosed directly, without dissolving a powder or diluting a concentrate. The juice has undergone pasteurisation and gentle filtration, is preserved with sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate, and its pH is adjusted with citric acid. In a formulation it acts as a humectant and active ingredient, is suitable for both rinse-off and leave-on products, and is also appropriate for sensitive and children's skin.

• Antioxidant ingredient – the manufacturer describes it as a source of antioxidants that help the skin cope with environmental influences.
• Scalp care – in hair masks, serums and scalp tonics, according to the manufacturer, it hydrates and soothes scalp irritation.
• Cleansing ingredient – the manufacturer also lists it as a natural cleansing ingredient that helps remove dirt and excess sebum from the skin and hair. In makeup removers it complements surfactants with a hydrating component.

Use in formulation

The juice is miscible with water and belongs in the water phase. In tonics, mists and gels it is added cold directly to the water, or it can replace part of the water in the formula. In emulsions it is incorporated after cooling, as the recommended processing temperature is up to 40 °C. The dosage is 1 – 10 %.

The recommended pH range of the finished product is 3.5 – 7. Outside this range we recommend verifying stability. The juice is compatible with anionic, cationic, non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants and with common preservatives, making it suitable for shampoos, shower gels and conditioners as well. It is clear and odourless. It cannot be incorporated into anhydrous products such as balms and oil serums without an emulsifier.

• Hydrating serums and gels – a water base that replenishes moisture and soothes.
• Light emulsions and body lotions – added to the water phase after cooling, especially in products for sensitive skin.

• Shampoos, hair masks and scalp tonics – according to the manufacturer, it supports scalp hydration and soothes scalp irritation.
• Hydrating masks and lip emulsions – for products with a water phase only; anhydrous balms will not accept the juice.

What is good to know

• Vegan origin and clean composition. The raw material is free from alcohol, parabens, fragrance allergens and food allergens. The ingredient list of the finished product will therefore not acquire any allergens that would need to be declared.
• pH control. The juice has its pH adjusted with citric acid and at higher dosages may shift the final pH of the product. After incorporating all ingredients we recommend measuring the pH and adjusting if necessary.
• Consistency. The juice is as thin as water and does not change the viscosity of the product. The consistency of a gel or serum is provided by a separate thickener.
• Easy biodegradability. The raw material is readily biodegradable according to OECD 301, making it suitable for rinse-off products with an emphasis on water-friendliness.
