Amber Glass Bottle, Slim, White Tamper Evident Safety Cap & Dropper, 50 ml

A ready-made set for packing facial oils, serums and tinctures. The set consists of an amber glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 50 ml, a long plastic dropper insert fitted into the neck, and a white ribbed safety cap with an 18/410 neck finish. The dark glass reduces the light reaching the contents, the dropper insert dispenses the liquid drop by drop, and the cap closes the set. Simply wash it, fill it and close it.

The tall, slim shape of the medicine bottle sits well in the hand and takes up little space on a shelf. The 50 ml volume corresponds to a common pack size for an oil serum, a facial massage blend, a herbal tincture or a diluted blend of essential oils. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

• Facial and hair oils – the dropper insert measures a few drops onto the palm without pouring, and the contents do not come into contact with your fingers during dispensing.
• Oil serums and blends with essential oils – amber glass limits the access of light, which speeds up the oxidation of vegetable oils.
• Tinctures, alcohol extracts and glycerites – glass does not react with alcohol or with most cosmetic raw materials, so the packaging does not change the scent or colour of the contents.
• Samples and test batches – the small volume and drop dispensing are useful when you need to hand out or try a new formulation in a smaller quantity.

How the set works

The dropper insert is pushed into the neck of the medicine bottle and releases the contents drop by drop when the bottle is tilted. The long version of the dropper insert reaches deeper into the neck of the tall medicine bottle. The cap is screwed on over the dropper insert, and the ribbed surface makes it easier to open, even with oily hands.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the quantity the medicine bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume of the glass up to the top of the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper insert, which takes up part of the space in the neck once fitted. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled medicine bottle will overflow when the dropper insert is pushed in, and the contents will run into the thread, where they impair the seal.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the medicine bottle, dropper insert and cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the neck or in the dropper insert would get into an anhydrous oil.

The glass withstands normal cleaning and hot water, but it does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Do not pour a hot phase into a cold medicine bottle or the other way round. The dropper insert is made of polypropylene and the cap of polyethylene. Both plastics are compatible with cosmetic oils and common raw materials. With concentrated essential oils, strongly acidic blends or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the plastic parts with your specific formulation, especially for longer storage of the finished product.

Only the glass medicine bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The dropper insert and the cap do not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. We do not recommend it for homemade oils or syrups.

Glass belongs in glass recycling and the plastic parts in plastics. Take the set apart before disposal; the dropper insert and the cap can be easily removed from the neck.
