Product description

A ready-made set for face mists, hydrolats and eau de parfum: a tall bottle in amber glass with a nominal volume of 50 ml and a plastic spray pump in a glossy white-gold finish. Suitable for everything applied by fine misting rather than a stream. Amber glass reduces light transmission and helps protect contents sensitive to UV radiation, particularly hydrolats and preparations containing essential oils.

The set comes as a matched pair: the bottle and the spray pump share the same neck type, so there is nothing extra to buy or check for thread compatibility. The gold collar and white pump head give the packaging an elegant look that suits both skincare cosmetics and small perfume series. The slim, tall shape sits comfortably in the hand and is easy to use with one hand.

What the combination of glass and spray brings

  • Protection of contents from light – amber glass filters out a significant portion of the light that accelerates oxidation and loss of scent or efficacy. For hydrolats and preparations with essential oils, this is a practical advantage over a clear container.
  • Glass durability – glass does not react with alcohol or essential oils, does not absorb them and does not transfer foreign odours to the contents.
  • Uniform fine dosage – the spray pump releases a small, consistent amount with each press. The contents are applied in a fine mist, spreading evenly over the skin or hair without running.
  • Tube reaching the bottom – the dip tube reaches the bottom of the bottle, so virtually all of the contents can be dispensed without tilting.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle can be refilled after washing and disinfection. After emptying the spray pump, flush it with clean water and then with alcohol to keep the nozzle from clogging. When changing fragranced contents, it is better to replace the spray pump, as residual scent is difficult to remove from plastic.

Nominal and total volume – what this means when filling

Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions and the volume stated on the label. Total volume to the rim is the physical capacity of the glass up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference is not a defect but a margin: the dip tube and the spray pump closure must fit into the neck, and the contents need room to expand with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the spray pump is screwed on, or the contents will be pushed out through the dip tube.

When filling, leave free space in the neck and screw the spray pump on only after wiping the thread dry. Residual liquid on the thread becomes sticky over time and makes unscrewing difficult.

Suitable for products such as

  • Face mists and tonics – water-based and hydrolat solutions with low viscosity spray best, producing a fine, even mist.
  • Hydrolats and floral waters – dark glass and dispensing without opening the container help maintain the purity of contents that are prone to contamination without preservatives.
  • Eau de parfum and alcohol-based fragrances – glass does not react with alcohol and the 50 ml volume corresponds to standard perfume packaging.
  • Hair sprays and refreshers – light water-based or water-alcohol preparations for hair, fabric and room refreshing sprays.
  • Herbal and antiseptic solutions – alcohol tinctures and extracts for cosmetic and technical use.

This set is not suitable for oily serums or thick emulsions. The spray pump is designed for thin liquids; thicker contents come out as a stream or the nozzle becomes clogged. For oils we recommend the same bottle with a dropper or pump.

Good to know

  • Contact with cosmetics and food – the complete set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the spray pump does not, so the complete set is intended for cosmetics. Declarations of conformity are available in the product parameters.
  • Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, rinse it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. Spray the pump several times with clean water to remove any dust from the tube and nozzle.
  • Viscosity of contents – the spray pump works best with liquids close to water in consistency. When adding solubilisers, glycerin or thickeners, test a spray before filling the entire batch.
  • Essential oils and plastic – contents with a higher proportion of essential oils or undiluted solvents may over time affect the plastic parts of the spray pump. With such formulations, check the seal and function after a few weeks.
  • Glass and temperature – sudden temperature changes can damage glass. Do not pour hot liquid into a cold bottle; allow the contents to cool to room temperature before filling.
  • Labelling – the body of the bottle is straight, making it easy to apply a label. For alcohol-based contents, use labels resistant to alcohol.
  • Recycling – glass goes into glass waste; the spray pump is made of plastic and aluminium. Separate the two parts before disposal.

The spray pump is not an airtight closure for long-term storage of volatile substances. With contents containing a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils, expect slow evaporation if the container sits unused for a longer period.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 50 ml glass bottle with spray pump suitable for hydrolat?
Yes, it is one of the most suitable combinations for hydrolats. Amber glass protects the contents from light, which accelerates loss of scent and efficacy, and the spray pump dispenses the contents without opening the container, reducing the risk of contamination. Hydrolat without preservatives should still be used within a reasonable time, and the bottle should be washed and disinfected before each new filling.
Can oil or an oily serum be sprayed from this bottle?
No, the set is not suitable for oils or thicker contents. The spray pump is designed for thin liquids such as water, hydrolat or an alcohol solution; oils come out as a stream or the nozzle becomes clogged. For oily serums, the same bottle with a dropper or pump from the Handymade range is the right choice.
How much liquid actually fits into the 50 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml, although the total volume to the rim is somewhat larger. The margin in the neck is needed for the spray pump's dip tube and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If filled to the rim, the contents overflow when the spray pump is screwed on, so the nominal volume should not be exceeded.
Can the bottle with a spray pump be used for perfume or an alcohol-based fragrance?
Yes, glass does not react with alcohol and the 50 ml volume corresponds to standard perfume packaging. The spray pump produces a fine mist suitable for eau de parfum and alcohol-based fragrances. With prolonged standing, expect slow evaporation, as the spray pump is not fully airtight. For storing a concentrate, a bottle with a solid cap is more suitable.
Is the 50 ml glass bottle with spray pump approved for food contact?
The complete set as a whole is not intended for food contact. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the spray pump does not. The complete set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is intended for cosmetic, perfume and technical solutions.
