Product description
This is a ready-made set designed for serums, facial and body oils, and light emulsions: a tall amber glass vial with a nominal volume of 50 ml and a plastic dispenser (pump) in a glossy black-gold finish with a transparent cap. Amber glass reduces light exposure to the contents. The dispenser delivers small, consistent doses without the bottle needing to be opened. The set is therefore best suited for formulas applied in small amounts whose shelf life is shortened by light, air, and frequent opening.
Why this combination
- Light protection – amber glass transmits significantly less light than clear glass. This slows the oxidation of oils and the degradation of sensitive components, such as vitamins, plant extracts, and unsaturated fatty acids.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are neither poured out nor scooped with fingers; minimal air and contaminants enter the bottle during use. This is especially advantageous for anhydrous oil serums and emulsions with more delicate preservation.
- Transparent cap – covers the dispenser opening against dust and prevents accidental actuation during transport or in a bag. The black-gold design of the dispenser remains visible.
- Inert glass – glass does not react with the contents, does not discolour, and tolerates formulas containing essential oils that may attack certain plastics.
Suitable for products such as
A single press delivers a small dose, approximately 0.3 ml. The set is therefore suitable for products with low to medium viscosity: facial serums, oil serums and elixirs, beard and hair oils, light fluids, oil-based facial cleansers, nail and cuticle oils, or anhydrous concentrates of active ingredients. A volume of 50 ml corresponds to a standard packaging size for a facial serum or oil providing several weeks of use.
The dispenser is not suitable for thick creams, butters, balms, and high-viscosity gels. Such contents will not be drawn up or will clog over time. For watery products such as tonics or hydrolats, a spray is more practical as it distributes the contents more evenly on the skin than a drop from a pump.
The dispenser works reliably with liquid and slightly viscous contents. With thicker emulsions, we recommend filling one unit first and testing whether the dispenser operates smoothly and does not clog after a few days.
Contact with cosmetics and food
Both the glass vial and the dispenser are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics. The glass vial alone holds a certificate for direct food contact. The dispenser does not have such an assessment, so the set as a whole is not intended for food use. Declarations of conformity for both components are listed with the product.
Nominal volume and full volume
The nominal volume is the amount the vial is intended to hold under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is an intentional margin: the dip tube and the dispenser body need to fit into the bottle, the contents expand slightly with temperature changes, and an overfilled bottle would push its contents out when the dispenser is screwed on. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Specific values for both volumes can be found in the parameters.
What is good to know when filling and using
- Preparation before first filling – wash the vial, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Rinse the dispenser including the dip tube and let it dry. Residual water in the tube could dilute the first dose of an anhydrous serum.
- Content temperature – fill with contents cooled to room temperature. Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well, and the plastic parts of the dispenser are not designed for hot filling.
- First presses – after screwing on the dispenser, press several times without dispensing until the dip tube fills and the dispenser begins to deliver contents. This is normal behaviour, not a fault.
- Dip tube reaches the bottom – the tube length is adapted to the tall shape of the vial, so the contents can be almost entirely dispensed.
- Alcohol and solvents – for formulas with a high proportion of alcohol, solvents, or concentrated essential oils, we recommend verifying the integrity and behaviour of the plastic dispenser components with your specific formulation. The result depends on the exact composition.
- Labelling – the cylindrical body of the vial allows a wrap-around or front label to be applied. Usable dimensions are listed in the parameters.
- Reuse – glass can be reused after washing and disinfecting. The dispenser can be rinsed with warm water and ethanol, but when changing the formula or after use with oily contents, it is more reliable to use a new one.
- Recycling – glass belongs in glass waste. The dispenser combines plastic and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
If the serum contains air-sensitive ingredients, fill the bottle to the nominal volume and do not leave unnecessary headspace. The dispenser then returns minimal air to the bottle and the contents oxidise more slowly than with a conventional dropper.
Other closures for the vial
The vial has a neck type as specified in the parameters. Closures with the same neck type and further ready-made container-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and container behaviour with your specific formulation.
