Product description

A glass dropper bottle with a volume of 15 ml, fitted with a plastic dropper and a white ribbed cap with a safety seal, is a complete set for filling facial serums, oils, tinctures and essential oil blends that are dispensed drop by drop. Brown glass filters light, so contents sensitive to oxidation stay unchanged for longer than in a clear container. The small volume is suitable for samples, travel packaging, testing a new formula and small batches for customers.

All three components of the set are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. This set is not intended for contact with food.

How the set works

The bottle has a neck with an 18/410 thread. The dropper inserts into the neck independently and is not connected to the cap. After filling, push it into the neck and tighten the cap over it. To dispense, turn the bottle upside down and the contents flow out of the dropper one drop at a time. No measuring is needed and the risk of spilling is reduced, which you will appreciate with concentrated active ingredients or essential oil blends where every drop counts.

The ribbed surface of the cap grips well even with oily hands and can be tightened securely.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial serums and oils – dispensing drop by drop into the palm, contents protected from light.
  • Essential oil blends – small volume and precise dosing into a diffuser, massage oil or formula.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – dark glass slows down light-induced changes.
  • Samples and test batches – 15 ml is enough to verify stability and fragrance before producing a larger quantity.
  • Oil concentrates – with vitamins or antioxidants that are added drop by drop to a finished cream.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is intended during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the specifications. The difference provides a reserve for the inserted dropper and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When inserted, the dropper displaces some of the contents and an overfilled bottle will overflow or cannot be properly closed.

Good to know

Before the first fill, wash the bottle, dropper and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Moisture in the bottle is undesirable with anhydrous oils and increases microbiological risk with aqueous products.

Do not pour hot contents into the bottle and do not move it from cold to heat at once — a sudden temperature change may crack the glass. The dropper is made of polypropylene (PP) and the cap of polyethylene (PE). With contents that have a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the dropper on a single unit before filling the entire batch.

Closures with the same neck type and ready-made container + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and the behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.

After filling, turn the bottle upside down and leave it to stand on a paper towel for several hours. If a drop appears, the dropper is not seated correctly in the neck or the cap is not tightened.

The bottle can be reused after washing and disinfection. For recycling, glass goes with glass, the dropper and cap with plastics.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 15 ml brown glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass filters light and slows down oxidation of the contents. Oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, essential oil blends or serums with vitamin C will last longer in dark glass without changes to their fragrance and colour than in clear glass. However, it does not provide complete protection from light, so store the container away from direct sunlight.
Why is the dropper bottle not filled to the brim?
Once inserted into the neck, the dropper takes up part of the volume and pushes some of the contents out, so the bottle is filled only to the nominal volume, i.e. 15 ml. The reserve between the nominal and total volume is intended for the dropper and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The total volume to the brim is stated in the specifications.
Is this set suitable for both aqueous and oil-based products?
Yes, glass is stable with aqueous, alcohol-based and oil-based contents. The PP dropper and PE cap handle common cosmetic formulations. With a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, test on a single unit before filling the batch to check that the dropper does not soften and seals properly. Aqueous products in this container must be preserved.
How should the glass dropper bottle be prepared before the first fill?
Wash it with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely with the neck facing down. The same applies to the dropper and cap. Residual water in an anhydrous oil will cause cloudiness, and in a leave-on product it will increase microbiological risk.
Can the 15 ml bottle be reused?
Yes, both the glass and the plastic parts can be washed and reused. Rinse the dropper thoroughly to remove any residue from the previous contents, especially when changing fragrance. If the dropper no longer seals in the neck after washing or becomes deformed, replace it with a new one.
What closure fits the bottle with an 18/410 thread?
This neck accepts closures with an 18/410 thread type, which is stated in the specifications. The set includes a white ribbed cap with a safety seal and a long dropper. Other closures with the same neck and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, verify the seal with the specific contents.
