Product description

A glass bottle in the shape of a medicine vial with a glossy black dropper is a complete combination of container and closure for small volumes of products dispensed by drops. Amber glass protects the contents from light, making the set particularly suitable for facial serums, oil blends, essential oil mixtures, tinctures and concentrated active ingredients that lose stability when exposed to light. The 15 ml volume corresponds to the size of a sample, travel pack or preparation with a higher concentration of active ingredients where precise dosing is recommended. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

How the set works

  • Light protection – amber glass reduces light penetration and slows the oxidation of sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils, vitamins and essential oils. The contents are only partially visible, which is a common and desirable property in oil and serum preparations.
  • Precise dosing – the dropper allows you to dispense a few drops without spilling the contents or touching them with your fingers. This is practical for serums and concentrates where the dose is measured in drops.
  • Glass without interaction with contents – glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, which cannot be taken for granted with plastic containers. The bottle is therefore also suitable for alcoholic tinctures and blends with a high proportion of essential oils.
  • Coordinated appearance – the glossy black dropper cap combined with amber glass creates a unified look that suits darker labels and a minimalist brand design.

Filling and container volume

With containers, a distinction is made between nominal volume and total volume to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume is the physical space up to the neck. The difference between them is the headspace that the glass dropper tube occupies after screwing on and that allows the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled all the way to the neck, the contents will overflow once the dropper is attached and the closure may not seal properly.

When filling for the first time, check the level with the dropper attached and set the filling line a little lower. This saves you from overflowing and sticky threads.

The dropper and its parts

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb and a screw-on cap with a glossy black surface. The length of the tube is matched to the height of this bottle, so it reaches the bottom and the contents can be retrieved with almost no residue. The silicone bulb is resistant to oils and alcohol and does not lose its elasticity with normal use. The glass tube does not absorb the scent or colour of the contents.

The dropper seals by screwing the cap onto the neck thread, not by the bulb. If the bottle is carried on its side or in a bag, we recommend checking the seal with the specific formulation, especially with very thin alcoholic solutions.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums and oil serums, where a few drops are dispensed per application.
  • Essential oil blends and aromatic blends for diffusers, where glass prevents interaction with the container.
  • Tinctures and alcoholic extracts for cosmetic use, where amber glass extends stability.
  • Oil concentrates for nails, lips or eyebrows, where precise application is appreciated.
  • Samples and test packs of cream or gel preparations with lower viscosity that the dropper can draw up.

The dropper is not suitable for thick creams, butters and preparations with higher viscosity. The contents cannot be drawn into the tube or are dispensed unevenly.

Good to know

Preparation and refilling. We recommend washing the bottle and dropper before use, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in the tube could cloud an oil preparation or reduce the stability of an anhydrous formulation. Once empty, the set can be cleaned and refilled. When changing the contents, especially after essential oils, thorough rinsing with alcohol is important to prevent the scent from transferring to the new preparation.

Glass and temperature. The bottle withstands normal filling temperatures but is not intended for hot filling or sudden temperature changes. Allow a heated oil phase to cool to at least room temperature before filling.

Labelling. The cylindrical shape of the vial allows a label to be applied around the circumference. A light or white label stands out on amber glass; with a transparent label, allow for a dark background.

Other closures. Any closure with the same neck type listed in the specifications fits the bottle. More ready-made container and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation, as behaviour varies depending on the viscosity and composition of the contents.

The set is intended for cosmetic use. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has food-contact certification, so do not use it for edible oils, syrups or extracts intended for consumption.

Recycling. The glass bottle goes in glass recycling. The dropper combines multiple materials; before disposal, it is advisable to separate the glass tube from the cap and bulb.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber glass bottle with dropper protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass reduces light penetration and slows the oxidation of sensitive ingredients. However, it does not completely replace storage in the dark. For preparations containing vegetable oils, vitamins or essential oils, we recommend keeping them out of direct sunlight and heat even in amber glass, so they retain their stability for as long as possible.
How much contents fit in a 15 ml bottle with dropper?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The total volume to the neck is higher, but this headspace is taken up by the dropper tube and the room needed for the contents to expand. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow once the dropper is screwed on and the closure may not seal.
Is the glass vial with dropper suitable for essential oils and alcoholic tinctures?
Yes, neither the glass nor the glass dropper tube reacts with essential oils or alcohol. The silicone bulb is resistant to these contents under normal use. For blends with a very high proportion of essential oils, we recommend verifying the dropper seal in the finished formulation, especially if the bottle is carried on its side.
Can the bottle with dropper be washed and used again?
Yes, the glass bottle and dropper can be cleaned and refilled. Wash them with warm soapy water, rinse with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. After essential oils, thorough rinsing with alcohol is essential, otherwise the scent will transfer to the new preparation.
Is the dropper suitable for thick creams or only for liquid preparations?
The dropper is designed for liquid and mildly viscous preparations such as serums, oils, tinctures and thin gels. Thick creams, butters and balms cannot be drawn up into the tube or are dispensed unevenly. For such preparations, a jar or pump bottle is more suitable, depending on the viscosity of the contents.
