Product description
The amber plastic bottle with a capacity of 150 ml and a black fine mist sprayer with a glossy silver collar is a ready-made packaging solution for liquid cosmetic products applied by spraying. Amber plastic limits the amount of light reaching the contents, which suits hydrosols, toners and hair sprays with more sensitive ingredients. The bottle is made of PET, so it is lightweight and, unlike glass, does not break, which makes it suitable for carrying in a bag or using in the bathroom. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
What it is suitable for
The sprayer disperses the contents into a fine mist, so it works best with thin, water-based or alcohol-based liquids. The 150 ml volume suits products that are used daily and in larger amounts than a face serum.
- Facial toners and hydrosols – applied directly to the face without a cotton pad, while the amber packaging also reduces light exposure.
- Leave-in hair sprays – conditioning and moisturising sprays, water with glycerine, blends with hydrosols and solubilised oils.
- Body and refreshing sprays – water-based or alcohol-based compositions with low viscosity.
- Alcohol-based solutions – for example hand cleansing sprays or water-alcohol toners; we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation.
- Working solutions in production – alcohol for removing bubbles from the surface of soap, or water for moistening when working with soap bases.
How to work with the packaging
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for during normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two leaves room for the dip tube and the body of the sprayer, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you pour in more, part of the contents will overflow when you screw on the sprayer.
After screwing on the sprayer, press the head several times to prime it until the dip tube and piston fill with liquid. One press then delivers approximately 0.12 ml, which for toners and hair sprays corresponds to one spray on a smaller area. You can use this amount as a guide when dispensing, but the exact dose depends on the force and length of the press.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, spray the inside with alcohol (ethanol or isopropyl alcohol) and leave to dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube would dilute the first doses and, with unpreserved hydrosols, would shorten their shelf life.
Good to know
The sprayer is made of polypropylene with an aluminium collar, which visually matches the packaging to the black head and the glossy details. The collar sits on the outside and does not come into contact with the contents.
PET withstands water-based and alcohol-based contents. Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals and solvents, for example acetone or undiluted essential oils. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or with an oil component, first test a smaller amount and check whether the plastic turns cloudy or softens. Fill with contents that have cooled down, as hot liquid can deform PET.
The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish, so you can also use it with other closures with this type of neck. You will find ready-made bottle and closure sets and closures sold separately in the Handymade range. If you combine them yourself, check the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
The packaging can be reused. Between two different formulations, wash the bottle, rinse the sprayer with several sprays of clean water and then alcohol, and leave to dry. Fragrance components can remain in the plastic for longer, so it is better to start with a new bottle when changing the fragrance. For recycling, the PET bottle belongs with plastics; unscrew the sprayer with the metal collar and dispose of it separately.
The sprayer is not intended for oils, thick emulsions or gels. Viscous contents will not spray into a mist, the mechanism becomes blocked and the sprayer is hard to press. For such products, choose a bottle with a pump or with a disc top closure.
