Product description
The Citrus Shine set contains everything a dishwasher needs for clean dishes and for its own protection: Pure dishwasher gel 750 ml, Citrus Shine rinse aid 500 ml and premium salt 1 kg. Each product does a different job in the dishwasher and we tuned the formulations so that they complement one another. The set is for those who like a fresh scent as soon as they open the dishwasher: the rinse aid is scented with orange and lemon essential oils.
Three products, three jobs
During every cycle a dishwasher has three different jobs to do: wash the dishes, protect itself from limescale and make sure the dishes dry without spots. “All-in-one” tablets combine them into a single dose. In the set, each job has its own product, which works exactly when it should.
- Gel washes. Enzymes break down dried-on egg, milk, pasta and sauces, while a sugar-based surfactant and sophorolipids carry away grease. You dose it according to how full the dishwasher is and how soiled the dishes are.
- Salt protects the dishwasher. It regenerates the built-in water softener, which captures calcium and magnesium before they settle on the dishes, the heating element and in the pipework as limescale. The salt in tablets cannot do this; it works only during washing.
- Rinse aid finishes the rinse. In the final rinse it helps the water run off the dishes in a continuous sheet. Dishes dry faster and fewer spots and streaks are left on glasses.
We explain why a larger dose of one product cannot replace another in the article Why a dishwasher needs gel, salt and rinse aid.
Why our set
- Citrus scent when you open the door. The scent of the rinse aid comes only from orange and lemon essential oils, with no synthetic fragrance. Only a small dose of rinse aid goes into the final rinse, so the scent is noticeable mainly at the moment you open the door. The gel stays free of fragrance and dyes, because scent does not wash dishes.
- The formulations account for one another. Hard water is handled by the salt and the softener, so the gel does not need to be needlessly aggressive. The gel washes in an alkaline environment, while the rinse aid is acidic. Citric acid in the final rinse helps to stop minerals from the water remaining on glass as white marks.
- Biosurfactant from fermentation in both the gel and the rinse aid. Sophorolipids are produced by yeasts through fermentation from European rapeseed oil and sugars, without palm oil. In the gel they help carry away grease, and in the rinse aid they help water run off the dishes. They are readily biodegradable.
- Composition without secrets. For both the gel and the rinse aid you know every ingredient and the reason it is there. We developed both formulations in our laboratory. The salt is sea salt with a sodium chloride content of at least 99.8% and without additives.
We describe each ingredient of the gel, together with why we chose it, in the article What dishwasher gel contains and what it does there.
How to start using the set
- Salt first. On first use you usually need to pour about one litre of water into the reservoir and then add salt until the reservoir is full. Set the softener according to the water hardness in your municipality; you can find this out from your water supplier.
- Then the rinse aid. Pour it up to the mark into the reservoir in the dishwasher door. Set the rinse aid dosing on the dishwasher to a medium level and adjust it according to the result.
- Gel with every wash. For normally soiled dishes approximately 15 ml is enough. For a full dishwasher, dried-on residues or hard water, fill the whole detergent compartment, usually about 25 ml.
You usually refill the salt and rinse aid once every few weeks and most dishwashers indicate this with a warning light. Only the gel remains a daily routine. We write about how to care for your dishwasher so that it keeps washing well in the article How to care for a dishwasher so that it washes like new.
You refill the products from the set as they run out. The gel is also available in 3 l and 5 l packs, and the Citrus Shine rinse aid in a 3 l pack.
