Product description
A 15 ml glass bottle with a dropper is used for precise drop-by-drop dispensing: face serums, oil blends, diluted essential oils, tinctures or concentrated active ingredients. It is suitable wherever a product is applied in small amounts or measured out into another formulation.
The bottle is made of clear glass, so the contents are always visible and you can monitor their colour, clarity and remaining quantity. It does not protect against light, however, which should be taken into account when choosing the contents. The dropper in a black matte finish with a glossy stripe gives the packaging a uniform look. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What the bottle with a dropper is suitable for
- Face serums and oil serums – the dropper dispenses a few drops onto the skin without you having to pour the product out.
- Essential oil blends and diluted aromatic blends – dispensing drop by drop makes it easier to measure precisely into a diffuser, a bath or another cosmetic formulation.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass resists alcohol, and the contents can be taken out drop by drop.
- Concentrated active ingredients and samples – the small volume suits test batches, customer samples or ingredients added to a formulation in small amounts.
- Nail and cuticle oil preparations, beard oils – products that are applied to a specific spot.
Nominal and total volume
When filling, the nominal volume applies, that is, the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume listed in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled up to the neck, the contents would overflow after the dropper is fitted or the closure would not seal properly.
Filling and working with the dropper
The dropper is screwed onto the bottle by its thread, similar to a cap. The glass tube is immersed in the contents, and the plastic collar with a silicone bulb seals on the neck. The contents are drawn up by squeezing the bulb; once released, the tube fills and the product is dispensed drop by drop. The size of the drop depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the contents. Thin oils and alcohol solutions drip easily, while thicker serums are dispensed more slowly and with a larger drop.
Before first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the tube or in the bottle can spoil anhydrous oil contents.
The dropper length is matched to this bottle. If you combine it with a different bottle or closure, we recommend checking the seal, the tube length and how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation. Closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations of packaging and closure, can be found in the Handymade range.
Good to know
Light. Clear glass lets light through, so it is not suitable for long-term storage of contents sensitive to oxidation and light, for example oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or serums with vitamin C. Such contents belong in amber or blue glass, or the product should be kept in a box and out of direct sunlight.
Compatibility of the contents with the dropper. The glass tube resists most cosmetic ingredients. The silicone bulb and plastic collar come into contact with the contents mainly through vapours and when the bottle is tilted. For undiluted essential oils, solvents or highly concentrated alcohol blends, we recommend testing the behaviour of the bulb and the seal on a trial sample before the packaging is used for a whole batch.
Temperature. Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Hot contents in a cold bottle or cold water on warm glass can cause it to crack. Fill the bottle with contents cooled to room temperature.
Reuse. The bottle and the dropper can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Oil residues in the bulb are harder to remove and may affect the scent of the next contents.
The bottle and the dropper are declared for contact with cosmetics. The set is not approved for contact with food, so it should not be used for homemade oils, syrups or other food products.
Recycling. The glass bottle belongs in glass recycling; unscrew the dropper before disposal and sort its parts separately by material.
