Product description
A glass bottle with a white dropper is a ready-made complete set for drop-by-drop dispensing for small volumes such as serums, facial and hair oils, active ingredient concentrates or tinctures intended for the skin. The packaging consists of a glass bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml and a dropper with a tamper-evident ring, so there is no need to separately select a cap or check whether it fits the neck. The transparent glass reveals the colour and clarity of the contents, which is useful for products where the customer should see what they are buying, or for own samples where you are monitoring changes in appearance.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is not approved for contact with food, so it is not suitable for cooking oils, syrups or herbal extracts intended for consumption.
What the set is suitable for
- Serums and concentrates – the dropper dispenses a precise amount of both water-based and oil-based serums without finger contact with the contents, which is an advantage especially for leave-on products with a higher concentration of active ingredients.
- Facial and hair oils – the small volume is suitable for more expensive oil blends that are used drop by drop and should not stand open for months.
- Tinctures and alcohol-based skin extracts – glass does not react with alcohol or oils, and the contents retain their scent without any odour from the packaging.
- Samples and test batches – the transparent glass allows you to monitor cloudiness, colour change or phase separation during formulation development.
- Gifts and small quantities – the set is immediately ready to use; simply fill, screw on and label.
How the dropper dispenses and seals
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a white plastic screw cap. Pressing the bulb draws up the contents, and releasing it dispenses drop by drop, making it easy to measure the recommended amount of serum or oil. The length of the tube is adapted to the height of the bottle so that it reaches almost to the bottom, allowing the last remnants of the contents to be used as well.
The tamper-evident ring under the cap separates from the closure on first opening. The customer can see that the packaging was not opened before them, and for you it is a simple way to distinguish intact packaging without an additional seal or film. After first opening, the ring remains loosely around the neck or is removed; this does not affect the seal of the cap.
For oil blends with a higher proportion of essential oils or for alcohol tinctures, we recommend testing how the silicone bulb and plastic cap behave with the specific formulation before a larger batch. The glass is stable against these contents; the plastic parts of the dropper may react over time.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during standard filling and the amount stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper tube, which when screwed on pushes part of the contents upward, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When overfilled, the contents overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted, soiling the thread and impairing the seal.
What is good to know
Preparation before first filling. Before filling with cosmetics, we recommend washing both the bottle and the glass dropper tube, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Traces of water in an oil-based product could cause cloudiness or promote microbial growth.
Transparent glass does not protect against light. It is suitable for contents that are not light-sensitive, or for products stored in a box or in the dark. For serums with vitamin C, retinol, or oils prone to oxidation, consider dark glass or a protective secondary box.
Glass and heat. Allow the hot phase to cool before filling, and do not fill packaging directly from a heated container into cold glass.
Reuse. The glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Before reusing the dropper, check that the silicone bulb has not hardened and that the tube is not cracked. When changing the type of contents, it is better to use a new dropper to avoid transferring the scent of the previous product.
Labelling. The cylindrical shape of the bottle allows a wraparound or front label to be applied. The bottle diameter and height can be found in the parameters. When producing cosmetics for sale, remember to include the mandatory details on the label or in an enclosed leaflet.
Recycling. The bottle goes in glass recycling. The dropper is a combination of glass, silicone and plastic, so separate the glass tube from the cap with the bulb before disposal.
The set is assembled from a bottle and a dropper with a matching thread, so the closure fits the neck without trial and error. Other closures with the same neck type listed in the parameters, and further ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing performance with the specific formulation.
