Product description

The set combines a transparent plastic bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a matte black trigger sprayer. It is intended for thin preparations applied by spraying, such as hair sprays, facial mists, or household cleaning products. The trigger is pressed with the whole hand, making it comfortable to use even during repeated spraying over a larger area.

The bottle is made of PET, a lightweight plastic suitable for the bathroom, travel, and workshop. The clear wall lets you see the colour, clarity, and remaining amount of the contents. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is intended for cosmetics and technical preparations, not for food.

What the set is suitable for

  • Hair preparations – leave-in conditioner sprays, detangling products, salt sprays, and hair tonics that need to be distributed along the full length of the hair.
  • Body and facial mists – hydrolats, tonics, and refreshing water-based sprays.
  • Household sprays – fabric and air fresheners, surface, window, and mirror cleaners in smaller packaging.
  • Plant care and hobby use – misting leaves or applying thin solutions.
  • Samples and travel sizes – the volume is sufficient for testing a new formulation without producing an unnecessarily large batch.

How the trigger sprayer works

The sprayer draws liquid through a dip tube from the bottom of the bottle and delivers a consistent dose with each press of the trigger (dose size is listed in the specifications). It is designed for thin liquids with a consistency close to water. On first use, press the trigger several times without spraying until the mechanism is primed.

Thicker preparations such as gels, emulsions, or neat oils will not atomise into a fine mist. They come out as a stream or in drops and may clog the mechanism over time. Solutions containing undissolved particles, such as plant extracts, should be filtered before filling.

The dip tube is longer than the bottle. Before first use, trim it with clean scissors so that it ends just above the bottom. An angled cut will prevent the end of the tube from suctioning against the bottom, allowing the bottle to be emptied almost to the last dose.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the sprayer body with its dip tube, which displaces some liquid when screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle may overflow when closing or subsequently leak around the thread.

Good to know

  • Reuse – after thorough cleaning the set can be refilled, preferably with the same type of preparation. Fragrance residues are harder to remove from the sprayer than from the bottle.
  • Labelling – apply labels to a dry, degreased surface. Bottle dimensions needed for label design are listed in the specifications.
  • Other closures – the neck type is listed in the specifications. Closures with the same neck and further ready-made combinations are available from Handymade. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dosage, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
  • Sorting for recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP, so separate them before placing them in the recycling bin.

PET softens and deforms at higher temperatures. Fill with a preparation only after it has cooled to room temperature, and do not boil the bottle or wash it in a dishwasher.

Frequently asked questions

What preparations is the 100 ml plastic bottle with trigger sprayer suitable for?
It is suitable for thin liquids applied by spraying over a larger area. These include hair sprays and detangling products, body mists, hydrolats, fabric and air fresheners, and cleaning products. Thick gels, creams, and neat oils will not atomise into a fine mist and may clog the mechanism over time, so a different closure type is more appropriate for them.
Is the 100 ml plastic bottle with trigger sprayer suitable for food?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, so the set is intended for cosmetics and technical preparations such as hair sprays, facial mists, or household cleaning products. For food use, packaging with an explicit food-contact declaration must be chosen.
Does the transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. The advantage is instead the visible colour, clarity, and level of the preparation. If the formulation contains light-sensitive ingredients such as hydrolats, plant extracts, or essential oils, store the filled bottle away from direct sunlight, preferably in a cupboard or box. For very sensitive contents, a dark container is more suitable.
Is the PET bottle with sprayer suitable for preparations containing alcohol and essential oils?
Yes, if they are standard aqueous or hydroalcoholic preparations in which essential oils are dissolved at a low concentration. Concentrated essential oils and strong solvents such as acetone can damage PET and should not be filled into this container. With a new formulation, it is worth leaving a test sample in the packaging for several weeks to check whether the bottle, scent, or sprayer function changes.
How to clean the plastic bottle and trigger sprayer before filling?
The bottle can be washed with lukewarm water and dish soap, rinsed thoroughly, and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The sprayer is cleaned by pumping through: first with clean water, then with alcohol, to flush the dip tube and internal mechanism. Both parts must be completely dry before filling. Hot water and dishwashers are not suitable, as PET deforms under heat.
